View Full Version : Lots of little annoyances

Hi there,

I have, in the last few hours, really enjoyed playing Worms on my iPhone 3G. However, lots of little annoyances makes this game feel rather unfinished.

1. Performace

The game is pretty unresponsive overall, making lots of things a nuisance.

2. Ninja rope

Not usable at all. The controls are hideous, they dont seem to recognise multiple entries at once reliably (multitouch, anyone?). Why not think of something innovative, like using the built in motion sensor or at least proper on screen controls? It is difficult enough on pc, right now its impossible on the iphone.

3. Backflip

Double tap isnt recognized about 50% of the time...

4. Zoom

Apart from being unresponsive, it doesnt go in very far... Whats the point of these restrictions?

5. Tracking of Bazooka

When you shoot a bazooka or guided missile far, they usually leave the screen and you dont see the impact. Kinda annoying and unnecessary, dont you think?

6. Moving the crosshair

When you try to teleport or start an airstrike, the crosshair doesnt immediately go where you tap. Usually it just goes halfway, so you have to tap a few times, which costs time and is really annoying...

This is about all I could think of right now, if you get these right it will be an awesome game to play on the iPhone...

Looking forward to feedback and further positive criticism..

I agree with EVERYTHING 'wildwild' has stated above. This stuff really needs to be fixed, especially the performance. A couple extra frames per second on a 3G would make this game a lot more fun. Get rid of the floating crap in the sky, and flowing water... this is the iphone, not a PS3 guys.

Also, moving the cross hair to target something can be painfully annoying sometimes. How am I supposed to see exactly where my cross hair is if my finger is on top of it? Learn from other iphone games and offset the cross hair from my finger so I can actually see it on the screen and aim correctly.

Everything else that I have found has been covered by 'wildwild' PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix some of these issues!

Thanks!

Agreed, it wouldnt take a lot to make this an awesome game for iPhone, but the problems that it has are realy quite serious. Have extras like debris and background as a toggleable extra, have targeting activate on hold anywhere rather than just on top of the reticle, and make the rope do something sencible... maybe left right by sweeping your finger across the screen? Anything would be better than the current rope version.

From what has been already said, I also agree with. It runs fairly well on my first gen jailbroken iPod touch, it's just these little nags with the game which can make it annoying

Also remove the 'confetti' stuff. It's not really beneficial.

Also with the backflips, if you do it fast like I would usually do on wa, nope not recognized. If it's done just before the worm jumps then it usually works. That's just what I have found with the game

otherwise looking good

I have noticed that if you leave it in pause too long, the game gets hosed and even the home key or power key take a long time to close the game.

I second what has been said about the backflip. They are better than I am. I get it to work at most 1 in 5 tries. I can't tell you how many times I've jumped into the water or a pile of mines... How about a button, like the fire button, for backflips?

Have you updated to version 1.0.1 of Worms (released a couple of days ago)? This has a new control for the backflip to reduce the amount of "suicides". Swipe one finger upwards on the worm to backflip.

The update also addresses performance issues on the iPhone 3G.
