Hello there, newcommer starlord here.

I wanted to display my thanks to the team 17 members, as I have recently probed the under appreciated space sim called phoenix: deep space resurrection.

However, I must confess, that I find combat to be extremely merciless: Those namoul and allarin fighters are simply horrible to contend with, and that mission when you have to attack a namoul installation to free POWs has me stuck, as those gun turrets are simply impossible to destroy.

I mostly wanted to know, is there a tactical move or cheat code that could help me past that problem so I could continue to enjoy the wonderful plot?

Thank you for your answers. regards.

starlord.

Hello? any help please? I know space sims are not the most vivid genre right now, but still...

A quick search with Google didn't bring up any cheat codes.
Also, there isn't even an entry on GameFAQs, so I doubt that any known cheat codes exist.

I once wanted to try out the game, but it was unplayable due to graphic rendering errors on a modern machine, so I never played the game at all.

Phoenix is one of T17's less popular games, so the chance to find someone who also played through the game is small.
I can only remember a handful of posters asking something on this forum since I registered six years ago. :(

1) are you running Windows ME, 98 or 95?
2) Is the game Windows based or DOS?

if you answered yes to '1' and Windows to '2' then you could probably use Cheat-o-matic to change the game values while playing. (should work through a Virtual Machine too if you are on Windows 2000 or newer)

Yes it is a windows 98 game, so i recon this would work.

I'm just quite surprised that there's so few people who actually have knowledge of that game, even though I find it superb (magnifiscent storyline, very "film-noir" like).

Actually, I wish team 17 recognised the success of their space sim, and even perhaps make more...:D

I don't know the game, but I assume it was meant as a budget title, and Team17 generally don't like to advertise them, even if they're rather good. Writing is cheap, after all.

Incidentally, it would probably help with Dream17's Softography section if you could take a few screenshots of the game in play.

Oh, right.

Starlord, if you could make a few screenshots of the menus and in-game action that would be nice. Also, if you could scan the boxart front and backsides.

Send everything to bonz [at] dream17 [dot] co [dot] uk.

Have a look here for downloading Cheat-o-matic and also how to use it. http://www.freewarereview.info/2007-01/cheat-o-matic_-_manipulate_almost_any_computer_video_game_with_me mory_scanning_.html

I find that Cheat Engine is far more powerful and does a better job:
http://cheatengine.org

It also works on XP and Vista.

Cheat Engine, you either need to know what your looking for (memory address or already have a cht file with the correct addresses... cheat-o-matic you just type your health, change it, reenter it, change it, reenter it and it works out the exact address your after by itself.

Well actually, I play on another win 98 based computer, so sending in game screenies will be tough.

However, I have this mobygames link: http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/phoenix

Also, while a rare team 17 game, it's still quite common on ebay or amazon stores.

As for box scans, I'll do that ASAP.

I prefer T-Search myself. Same thing (locates variable addresses by scanning the variable values) but it works better, and is compatible with newer OSes.

Actually, that's what you do with Cheat Engine as well to find the addresses if you hadn't noticed.
Cheat Engine actually allows you to change the assembly code of the program on the fly too, so you can make you health actually increase when you get hit and stuff.
