View Full Version : I'm a bit disappointed with this game

I recently purchased worms on the PSN.
And although I mostly enjoy playing it online, I have to say that I expected more.
Years ago, I was fortunate to play games like Worms Armageddon and World Party, so I expected to see a really great worms game on my favorite next-gen console.

And I find that most of the weapons I used to love are gone, others have been nerfed and the ninja rope is not so ninja anymore...

I would be really glad to see the following added/fixed:

* Ability to play online with "local" friends (i.e. 1+ controllers)

* Fix to the ninja rope (have the ability to get higher than where you are, hard but extremely satisfying)

* Ability to control health of worms and have more of them

* Fix nerfed weapons like the Banana bomb (very reasonable if health can be set to 350+ points)

* Grenades, Clusters and Banana - Clusters have been terribly nerfed, it's a stupid weapon now, banana bomb only makes big holes now, nothing more. All of them should have a bouncy setting like on the PC.

* Is it just me or are the levels much smaller than on the PC? I can traverse most levels in mere seconds with the ninja rope.

* Napalm (plz!)

* Camera issues are annoying, noticeable with homing missile mostly.

* Open mic only + inability to mute yourself or others? recipe for disaster IMHO.


It is still a fun game, no question about it!
But I want it to be epic, like it was on the PC!

If you're in a cavern there's little to no problem. The rope serves its purpose. I've never been a big roping fan, though, and other people have made the same complaint so you might be right.

Yes. More customisability.

They claim this was carefully balanced during testing. At first I didn't see how doing 16 damage to a worm in direct line of a banana bomb was balanced but when you use it with the intention of drowning worms or cause widespread damage/knockabout it is pretty powerful.

You mean min/max bounce? I agree although only out of principle. I'm not sure it'd add much to the gameplay.

They seem OK to me...

Worms 2: Armageddon (XBLA and later PC) will have fire.

From what I understand a patch is being produced to fix issues like these. Have a read through some of the other threads, they're quite informative.

I agree. I disliked having to listen to a pair of microphoned players speaking in a language I don't understand. It didn't add to the experience one bit.

It's funny, no matter how good a game is people will always nitpick. It's human nature, I guess. I'm not saying it's the best game in the world, nor am I saying you should bottle up your opinion; just making an observation. :)

Hey, I enjoy the game, I play it with real-life friends, PSN friends and even random people. Just saying that it could be better, like the PC versions.

And I must say that I'm dissapointed with this game - bought yesterday, with rememberance that 2d Worms were awesome (3d kinda sucked) - i thought - cool chalenges, many weapons etc. - and what we got?

A DEMO GAME - i can understand that demo version can have not so much weapons, have limited amount of worms, not even enough customization options, but not the FULL GAME - which for half of a price i could have get a Worms:Word Party - not this limited version - why cutout everythin from game and leave only 150MB of content? Sad that team17 nowadays even can't make a good game port - which is their FLAG GAME!

Dissapointing team17...

Worms for Xbox Live and PSN has always been described by Team17 as a simpler, entry-level version of the game - more a remake of the original 1995 version than anything else. It's for people who played the original on the PlayStation but didn't really pick up the later games. It's for people who have never played Worms before. It's for people, bluntly, who aren't us.

(Actually I bought it for both Xbox Live and PSN, and I love it. But that's just me.)

If you want the full-fat, extra-meaty version, you can wait until later in the year when Worms 2 Armageddon comes out.

So much. The roping is not even similar. Not since WWP has T17 gotten roping right. it's as if they lost the source code for the engine or something. And yes, napalm should be brought back or at LEAST fire from crates/health boxes etc.
