View Full Version : Local league table from Worms PS1, can we have it back?

One of the things I liked best about the original Worms on the PS1 over 10 years ago was the league table for all your local games, human and CPU. I know it currently keeps stats about each team, but it was nice to see a proper league table.

Why was this never in any Worms game since?

Team17 have rather sadly moved away from delivering statistic data. The last game to really do that was, I think, Worms World Party - all the statistics stuff went out of the window from Worms 3D onwards, which is a real shame.

I agree with you, though - wit'd be nice to see Worms/WormsDC levels of statistic data generated in newer titles. Unfortunately I don't think Team17 are particularly bothered about it.

In fairness, it wouldn't have much of a use. In Worms1, (unless I'm mistaken) you couldn't choose the team size, it would always be four. That meant that those four worms would have equal chance at getting most kills, and it looked something of an internal compotition. Since choosable team sizes were in, if they were to include W1-type Worm stats, it would always go with the first worm having most kills, followed by next worm, etc etc, because the higher up on the team the worm was, the more games they got involved in.

The ranking system was still in Worms: The Directors Cut, which had eight worms per team (an A-Team and a B-Team, both of four worms). You could set up a B-team and never use them. Or you could set up a team of just one worm.

It's just something for those of us who like statistics to... well, to look at. I miss being able to find out which of my worms had dealt the most damage overall.
