I sold my 360 last year and bought a PS3. I had the Worms game on the 360 and ever since I've been wanting to play Worms. Now they release this version and I'm wondering if it's worth buying "again"? Could someone who's played both versions give some feedback?

The 2 main factors keeping me from buying are the fact that the XBLA had bugs that were never fixed. If Team 17 doesn't plan on supporting this game then there is no point in buying, already I've read about bugs like only 2 people able to use mics in 4 player games; also players having trouble connecting (this particular bug sounds an awful lot like the XBLA connect bug. The other factor is that the new XBLA Worms is only exclusive for a time period before it shows up on PSN.

Now the reason I want to buy it are obvious, it has additional weapons and more importantly additional landscapes!!

So I hope someone can give some feedback.

PSN version has 4 new (old) weapons: Baseball Bat, Concrete Donkey, Holy Hand Grenade, and SuperSheep.

I wonīt buy it because of the bad support of THQ (not Team17).
They shut down the PSP server (maybe because of the PS3 version, maybe because of their financial crisis...) after a almost a year.

I donīt know how long the server will be online and I learned about the PSP version.
I wonīt buy a game, which is only online fun.
If I have a PS3, I play GTA4 and Street Fighter 4, these games have a great support team and a big online community.

I think Team17 themselves publish this one, since it is digital distribution and so requires a lot less expenses (which is the reason why developers and publishers are separate).

Also, it'll be using PSN to do networking - i.e, THQ won't be involved in hosting any servers at all.

Orly? I didn't realise sony allowed other developers to use their servers.

Well... Is the game worth his 12,99$? I don't have a CC and I live in europe. So my only two ways to get the game are: Import a PSN card or Sharing. I will go for option one, if it's atleast worth the money. But then I actually have to pay 25€ for this Worms... That's not cheap for a game with a size of just 147MB's. Is it? :-/

The game will be released in Europe on April 11, priced 9.99 euros/7.99 Ģ

It's a lot bigger than the original XBLA release and features new weapons and totally revised physics.

I'm not sure if it uses servers; I'm pretty sure it works as server/host.
Well, that's the way it was done in LBP (which did annoy some people if there was a laggy host).

Spadge - April 11th is a Saturday, and the PS Store usually updates on Thursdays, so I would imagine it to be out on either 9th or the 16th... Can you confirm either way?

PS Alien Breed PSN next??? Please?

It's not the size of the files, it's how much fun you get out of it and how long you keep having fun for.

I would say it's worth it.

Does the US Version work on/with EU Servers? If I (german) buy the US Version, can I join games that are hosted by people using the EU Version (after its release, of course)?

It should be , because the US Version is already translated into German , and in most games if that happens the servers are worldwide ;)

I think so... I already boucht the game, and i'm from Holland. Have'nt tought about that yet. But i'm almost sure you can.

Btw: Why does'nt pays team 17 attention on the publicity? I mean there are just 2 screenshots released yet, not even a gameplay movie or Trailer... :(

Maybe because the free ads (demo, video demo etc...) available on playstation store would be expensive for them. I think publishers pay 15 cents to Sony for 1giga downloaded.

Oh my god! This game is getting over snowed!
And this fricking Xbox already gets the next Worms! It's just not fair. Team 17 left the PS3 behind.

PS3 is an **** to develop on anyway, regardless of how good a console it is. Seriously, PowerPC architecture for the cell processors? What's wrong with x86_64?
Development on 360/PC is just about seamless, may I add.

What's wrong with PPC then? It's only an issue if you like coding in assembly...

And the PS3 would never in a milllion years get directX support, which is what makes the Xboxes so easy to dev for.

Well the PS3 has much more potention then the Xbox 360. And there's much more possible. There are maybe more Xbox owners. But the PS3 has also plenty of owners and also Worms 'fans'. So I just don't understand Team 17.

I think both machines have more than ample power to satisfy pretty much any 2D Worms game. I don't think one would be better than the other in that respect. I think the real limits are in file sizes, compliance and user base.

I think this is a very wrong development for this thread to convert into another console debate, but i have to add this:

Very amusing to poopoo PowerPC architecture and then praising X360 for ease of development.

(And, BTW: Cell is based on PowerPC, but you really should not programm Cell like an ordinary PowerPC or you will not even scratch the surface of its strengths)

@Spadge: thanks for the good news (price), but the release date doesn't make any sense, like said before.

Wait until you see that the bugs are fixed on these forums, because the ones that do exist are unacceptable in most games and some new ones just keep popping up.

Well, I decided not to buy it. Can't believe there is a Mic issue that they are blaming on the PSN?? They said that because it's peer to peer they couldn't get 4 players talking without people dropping...uhhh...correct me if i'm wrong but aren't all games peer to peer on the Xbox and they work just fine with 4 players talking in worms? This game came out 3 years ago on XBLA, if anything it should have been immaculate on the PSN instead it's a game full of bugs as I've read on the forum.

Hope they get it right when they release Worms 2 on PSN once it is no longer an XBLA exclusive.

I doubt the upcoming Worms 2 Armageddon will come to PSN- its published by Microsoft.

As a big fan of the original PS1 game I am over the moon to have an updated HD version. The game plays pretty much as I hoped apart from a number of bugs that lock up the PS3, or jam the camera....

Wait to see if Team 17 start addressing the bugs before investing....

But a team17 member mentioned that Microsoft got the exclusivity only for a few months. If this is true, then it will be released on PSN later on. So is this true or not?

Are you sure he didn't say the 360 got the exclusivity, as it'll come out on PC in a few months?

They should update this cureent PSN one into Armageddon since we have waited ages for a Worms game, which let's be honest is basically Open Warfare 1. It has the same menus and everything.
