Does anybody know which stores are accepting pre-orders for the Nintendo DS-i? I expect this thing will sell like delicious pancakes, so I would like to have my Imports Manager pre-order it so that I actually have a chance of getting it.
Thanks for any info.

These are the ones I could think of:

Best Buy
Frys
Gamestop

All seem to be offering preorders, at least online, and all at the same price of $169.99 US

amazon.com

In store pick up, and in store pre-ordering.

All three I listed should accept in-store pre-orders and in-store pickup. I remembered your inability to order online and so those three are the physical stores I could think of off the top of my head.

With a thread title like "Attention americans:", I was expecting the content to be slightly more awesome :p.

Thanks. I hope BestBuy has it, as it's the only store he's willing to check because he already has to go there anyway. He's reluctant to go to a specific store for that because of the wasted time and resources to get there, and not having certainty of success. :p
The guy brings stuff for several people and only goes there once a week, so time is crucial for him.

Still, I mentioned to try his luck in any other store he happens to go to that might sell handheld consoles. :p

Eh, couldn't think of a better title to garner attention.

"Attention American commando. You are surrounded, and there is no escape. Throw down your weapons now, and you will be treated with generosity and kindness."

Me.

If you REALLY wanted one, I could've bought one and sent it to you months ago, though I'd need payment in advance. I'm surprised only 2 people have asked me so far.

Oh right, you be in japan. Had I thought of that a month ago I would have asked, but right now it would probably take longer for it to arrive from there than if I pre-order it from the US. Also shipping ought to be expensive. :p

Anyways, my importing dude here asked in BestBuy and was told there was no pre-order. Luckily, this guy has a US address now, so I'm going to try Amazon.com. It's just a matter of it accepting non-US credit cards.

His credit card didn't work. I'm running out of time here... Might as well just wait for release and hope to get lucky I guess...

I'm thinking about getting a DSl. I can't figure out what makes DSi the worth all that extra money.

Well, the DSiware store is the main thing that does it for me, with possibilities of adding a VC of it's own with previous Gameboy titles. Also has a bunch of gimmicky but still fun stuff. Like a fun image editor, something that tracks your head and adds funny stuff to it, some sort of music editor, probably not too complex, etc. Also SD card support.

So it's a DS with Wii features?

I think it's too soon for a Gameboy VC, you can still play the whole range if you have a GBA and a DSi.

You can still play snes games if you have a snes.

I would be all over the DSi if there was a download service for Gameboy games.

Except for locating the cartridges. Surely you don't see original GB games on stores too often, or at all. Even more here where I live. Having them available online would be a great plus.

Well it just makes me feel unbeleivably old. :p i still have GB games, is it already time to get rich off them on ebay?

Just out of curiosity here, anyone in USA with the possibility of ordering a ds-i online from amazon to deliver directly to a mailbox in laredo, tx, with payment in advance from my part via international fund transfer?

I'm still not dead set on this, after asking in a local bank I was told they charge a $30 USD fee for this type of transaction. I expect something similar from my bank(haven't asked there yet)... so I don't know if it's worth getting it sooner for an additional $30...

i don't think there's much of a market

i'd be willing to do this if you could transfer the funds via paypal - if i did my math right, this would only cost an additional $7.06 in fees

Thanks for the offer Futureworm, but apparently this guy I mentioned has become good friends with some lady in a best-buy locale and she offered him to hold a ds-i for when he can go next week. :D
So I would get it for next week, except next week I'm out on vacation, so I'll be getting it until the weekend next week probably.
Still, *glee*

They're nice things, too. They just feel slicker than any handheld console I've handled (hand-held?) before. They don't feel like they'd take the same punishment as the DS Lite though, which is an important factor for me cos it gets chucked around a lot.

This is seems like the most logical place to ask if anyone would be willing to Buy a Something Awful Forums account for me. I can send you the money via Paypal.

Oh goody, then you'd be able to see my Let's Play Advance Wars 2 Hard Campaign thread.

Although I doubt that's your primary motivator.

The LP subforum is definitely a big motivator. That and the numerous webcomic threads.

I managed to get my card working in the end. (it's so funky it needs to generate fake card details so all those sites will believe it's the real deal) This doesn't mean I've finally stopped grovelling people for money though. :p

I'm registered as "SupSuper", natch.
