Before I get into it, YES, I have read and tried what is explained in the sticky
http://worms2d.info/Troubleshooting_FAQ#The_game_colours_get_all_messe d_up

I have no palette.log in my WA folder.
Having an explorer window open doesn't prevent it from happening
Killing explorer.exe before running worms doesn't prevent it either

Running XP sp3, AMD 64 x2 4400+, Nvidia 8600GT, and latest WA beta version.
Latest drivers for all hardware. Brand new install of XP.

About 30-90 seconds into the game, the "background" (in-game) drops out to look like 16-bit rainbow colours. Then, about 30-90 seconds after that, the foreground (terrain, worms, weapons/weapon menu) does the same.

Any suggestions? I only reinstalled WA after finding my original disc recently, and would love to play again :D

Download HijackThis and generate a log, save/attach the log here and we'll try to spot some satanic processes running on your computer that can be stealing your precious colours.

I have no palette.log in my WA folder. That's very unusual (I've never heard of palette hijacks that are not logged). Are you sure about this? W:A needs to be able to write to its folder to create this file. By default, Windows Explorer doesn't show file extensions, so it might be just a file with the name "palette". The latest Beta version is 3.6.29.0.

Doesn't appear to be anything malicious there.

Also, I checked and I definitely do not have a palette.log anywhere in my Worms Armageddon folder/subfolders.

Hmm... that's a lot of stuff running. Try closing all applications before you start the game. Windows Live Messenger has been known to cause problems.
