What could be more fun than a barrel of worms? A handful of worms with weapons. These were made by me in 1.5-2 hrs, and each worms is about 2.5cm/1inch tall. Unfournatly I didn't take any pics right away, so dust has been settling/getting stuck on it. Still, I like it. The hardest part was getting the colours right. In the pics there is: homing pigeon and missle, air strike missle and radio, blow torch and mask, drill and helmet, baseball bat and hat, uzi, shotgun, handgun, bazooka, sheep, holy hand grenade, grenade, 3 landmines, dynamite, grave bomb/plunger(and a very hard to see tombstone), banana bomb, flame-thrower, crate and freeze cube and hat.

Well, I did some worms using Cold Porcelain, and even did some sigs from the forum, a long time ago
Error convinced me to try doing new ones and post them here, but I would like to see pics of yours before.
It really is very fun to do and now I'm curious about yours. Waiting for pics ;)

Thanks, as for the materials/tools, I may look into getting "the right stuff" since I made these two pieces out some clay I had left over from a diorama in grade 10(that being Hercules rescuing Prometheus), and my own fingers, a tootsie pop stick and a pen tip to mould everything. My actual skills will soon be geared toward the making of teeth, but untill then I may make more. As of now, I am almost out of clay. :(

As l said: I didn't take the photos right away(about a day later) and unfortounatly it is quite dusty in my room, but I agree that does detract from the apearance.

Refinement is overrated. I love these. The first one is just so detailed, and for some reason I thought it was pretty cool how you can even see the fingerprints in the second one. That, and the way you built the whole rifle+hands setup onto the body so it would stay put is pretty clever.

I disagree. I see potential on his work but not real quality... at least not one that matches his potential. I don't believe the fingerprints and the "roundness" of the clay adds much. I think he could do way better with better material and/or tools.

I would also recommend that you resize your pictures a little bit down, as it doesn't fit on a 1024x768 resolution, which is the standart one nowadays.

On a related note I have drawn Roboslob, my sigworm, as my first atempt at actualy drawing a piece of worms fanart. I am satisfied with the way the final version came out, but I am planning on redrawing him on some plain white paper, any suggestions/tips?

Only suggestion here is as Error said, resize your pictures to a more table-friendly size. You can use the forum standard 468x468 pixels size or go for something up to 800x800. Only go for large sizes when there's a lot of detail to show.

Well that one I can't figure out, I tested with three computers and I could see all the pics. Strange.

The issue is most likely his ISP. You could try a different image hosting site, or if your image is under 468x468 and smaller than 100 kb then you can use the "attachment" option in the post.

The sig looks pretty good... sort of a Robocop worm, which is nice and somewhat original... not that much, though.

I'd like to see some personality traits so i could give you a better feedback. And like MtlAngelus said i said, resize your stuff down, mate. :p

Yeah, he is based of Robocop(never seen any of the movies btw, just pics), but the character is much different. More personality pics will come, for now these two, showing his addiction to "liquid courage", in an atempt to deal with his various depressors. (Being considered a failed project, removed from the police force, social awkwardness and more...) I will develop his backstory more. One last note, this character is not a representation of me, in case you were wondering. :)

Roboslob, you should buy yourself a few packs of Fimo in several colours.
It's a clay-like PVC compound that you can bake at ~130°C in the oven to harden it.
You need to knead it for quite some time at first to soften it, even more if you want to mix colours, but since there are 50+ colours available already, that shouldn't be a problem.

I think I'll make my laser avatar in Fimo soon.

You can also cut or sand it when it's hard.

Another advantage is that since it's not as soft as clay or plasticine, you don't have that many fingerprints on it.

A modelling knife or a spatula helps a lot to form straight edges.

Presently these models are just a bit of fun - I don't currently have permission to reproduce the worms ip in any medium for sale. I'll finish these two up, have them painted and if they look good and there's enough interest I could always ask the higher powers about it...

Yeah, Sculpy is great stuff. I used to play around with that all the time, although I haven't worked with any for years. And you're right: I've never had any problems finding Sculpy here in the U.S. -- it seems any good art store has it. Although, they may not have all the different colors available. But it does paint quite nicely after baking, especially if you put down a simple undercoat, primer, or base coat for the paint to adhere to.

Xinos - yes, the donkey has a wire armature to help it stand up and keep it's shape.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. I have a friend painting up the worm so hopefully I'll have an update on that soon. Well not clay worms, but I don't feel the need for a second thread, so here is a doodle I did tonight, I've been doing some work with hands, and I like how this one came out, except I think the pinky looks a little bit to big. Sorry I didn't have a scanner so I had to photograph it. Yes I did adjust the picture a bit. (it had been to dark)

Well, I've been feeling like sculpting again, so I went ahead and made some more. Now I still don't have any good clay, so its still got the fingerprint and dirt issues, but I did use some better tools, namely an Exacto Knife, and a pocket knife. Although I never did get the lips looking good.

Thanks guys, and Thurbo's right, its a shell for his zook. I also made a new worm using some new techniques, most notably the eyes, which I think look much better, also I got rid of most of the fingerprints. The most difficult part was the mouth shape.

Its Painted or is the clay colour?

None of them are painted, but after the first two I ran out of correctly coloured clay. Also the ever so important black and white.

I have to say... that concrete donkey looks awesome!
