When looking in #AG a few minutes ago, I noticed that a lot of people pinged out at once:

This seems similar to a bug I discovered a few months ago, but that can't be the same one, since in the bug I discovered, it happened only if nobody joined the channel for exactly 3 minutes, and someone had joined 3 seconds ago.


Any ideas, CS?

Lol, I see you have the (banned) online snooper in the background :p

Also, which snooper is that? It looks incredibly intrusive with the notification bar pop-ups.

I do also have a log of the event, it's just easier posting a pastebin rather than a screenshot.


EDIT: I just had a look, it seems there's been lots of pingouts (none as big as that one however) recently. This calls for an investigation.

It could be Online Snooper's constant rejoin attempts is DoSing WormNet.

I'm using Lookias' Wheat Snooper and you can set the notifications ballon's height. And that's a screenshot of my laptop's desktop... I don't work/play on it... I keep servers on it, I use it for chatting, hosting worms games (via VirtualBox- HostingWhore), browsing and stuff, so a high notifications area is not a problem, and, as I already said, it can be disabled or reduced to one row.

This mass ping-out problem has been occurring on WN for a long while now, definitely way before that snooper ever got banned

And I very much doubt that the reconnect function would be vigorous enough to cause any kid of DoS attack
