View Full Version : kick players...?

Hello everybody,

Is it possible to kick players when I host a game?
Players often say to me "kick this and that player..."
Then I asked someone and he told me, that I need Rubberworm. Then I googled it and read about its features, but there was nothing mentioned about being able to kick someone. Besides it crashed my server when I played online, though I took care to choose the latest version, cause I got the newest patch.
Is it possible to uninstall rubberworm?

Anyway, then I found a tool called "wkick" on this board, which contains a .dll that should be placed into the WA folder and the author said also, that it has to be installed like a Wormkit. But how do you do that?
Anyway, I just put it into WA folder, but its not possible for me to kick players online. If I type "kick1" for instance, nothing happens, and players ask me what I try to do.

Thanks for help

Here's the solution: Noob kickin' tutorial for any W:A version (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=36928)

Ahh I see...then maybe someone can tell me if its possible to uninstall rubberworm and if yes, how this could be done.

To uninstall rubberworm you simply have to remove/rename the rubberworm module from the W:A installation folder (wkRubberWorm.dll).

1) wkick is only for certain versions of W:A (hence the crashing when using the latest version of W:A)

2) delete wkrubberworm.dll and wkick.dll (unless you want to use an older version of W:A to use wkick)

3) play!

btw, you kick people by left clicking there name BEFORE you start gameplay.

Hi!
Question- Can in future works ''wkick'' on latest update?

No! The developers will never condone booting players in-game.
Instead, learn how to do that by yourself or ask in private those who seem to know, just like everybody else does.

What about this one: wkCinusKick (http://worms.cinus.org/wkcinuskick/)?

I use this module for months.

Or even better, just teach newbs how to play, and if a person is being abusive and/or annoying, make sure you only play with friends, or just make a mental or physical note to kick that player if he joins another game.

...or just make a mental or physical note to kick that player if he joins another game.

Assuming the one being abusive and/or annoying is not faking someone else and that he isn't changing nick names and deliberately joins your games to ruin each and every one of them.

As far as I can tell from the source and the comments in that source, for the wkick module to work it just needs a small update.

But that's what the source says. I never tried to compile it so..

either that or moderators can accept threads regarding other conventional methods for booting players in-game.

Either that or MihaiS can finally realise why they don't allow those threads.

Ah, yes... this thread is about reviving wkick and I'm the one that should realize why moderators don't allow threads describing other solutions/methods for booting players in-game. Mhm...

wkick had just one hard coded address, but for this reason it had to "guess" the table of players by the incoming connections and the opening of the listener socket. In .29, this last thing changed, and so adapting wkick to .29 would require a bit of change more than just compile with the updated hard coded address.

What I like of Cinus' module is that is closed source and resistant to debugging. What I don't like is that every time you kick, the website of the module is shown, and so it will surely spread quickly.

I think you would be surprised by the number of idiots that ask where to get it Pisto after I use it o_o.

It's still the reason I don't use it.
That one time I feel I really wanna kick someone I just aswell can do it other ways, without advertising booting players to ppl who may abuse it...

You are right. However completely "silent" kicks (without any public message) are more dangerous because of the possibility of cheating. I think that informing the kicked player is most important feature of new version of kick module.every time you kick, the website of the module is shown, and so it will surely spread quickly.

Pisto's complain is it sends a link to players, not that it shows a message.

Pisto's complain is it sends a link to players, not that it shows a message.Yes I know, and I agree with it. That's why module name and website url has been removed from message.

I quoted Pisto to show what has been "Fixed".

Ah, I am used to forums where people tamper with what they quote and say "fixed." :) ok then, I'll update to the latest version of it!
