Alright. So I'm running OS X 10.4.11 on a macbook with 2 GB ram, a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and an Intel GMA 950 GPU. I have xp running out of VirtualBox 2.1.2 with 524 MB of base memory and 64 MB of video memory (3D acceleration is turned off). Guest additions are also installed, and the driver listed under "Display Adapters" in device manager is "VirtualBox Graphics Adapter."

It's reading the original WA game, which I was able to patch and update to version 3.6.29.0. The game even opens fine when VirtuaBox is in windowed mode and plays perfectly in both 640x480 and 800x600. However, if I am running VirtualBox in fullscreen mode, opening the game goes straight into a black screen that goes away only when I exit fullscreen mode. Also, I seem unable to convince WA to play in any greater resolution than 800x600. I think it probably has something to do with this:

"If the game resolution has been set to a value that the current display driver does not support, in the Options screen it was supposed to revert to 640?480; it did so, but still displayed "Custom Resolution" in the button. Now, it reverts to the highest available legacy resolution (1024?768, 800?600 or 640?480), and the button is synchronised with the reverted resolution."

What I would like: To be able to open WA from fullscreen mode in VirtualBox, and to run the game in 1280x800 (my native resolution).

Sorry that that was so long, but I didn't want to leave out any possibly vital information :)

Anybody have any ideas? I would find it hard to believe that my machine isn't up to the task...

Try uninstalling Guest Additions, and setting the VM's resolution to your screen's native resolution. Since 3.6.29.0, Guest Additions are no longer required to play W:A, and they may only interfere with W:A's proper functioning (by switching around focus and resizing windows).
