Hello everybody,

I have a problem when using the rope.
I just cant set the rope, when I press 2 arrow keys at the same time.
So I often get into trouble when playing towerraces, cause the rope was again not set, cause i was holding the up-arrow from before to get fast.
I actually already got a bit used to it, but then asked some friends and they told me that they dont have this problem. Hope you got my problem and can help me to fix it. I'm using WA with the newest patch and Vista x64

Thanks

The problem is with your keyboard and how it is wired inside. There is nothing you can do other then to buy a new keyboard. Here is a list of known keyboards that do/do not suffer this problem :)

This is not entirely true, you can also remap your keys (see RRKit (http://www.rrkit.com) for a tool) to avoid this. Of course it's still pretty much more convenient to just buy a new keyboard, but I myself am using this method to get rid of that 'key lock'. :)

I learnt to rope like that, and even though i now have a keyboard that doesn't lock the keys, i still let go of the arrows for a split second to fire the rope out of habit.

Yes, I did the same for many years.
I was so good at it that I could open the chat panel and type short messages during a fly.

Now with a keyboard that doesn't lock up anymore, I have quickly adopted a more regular style of roping though, with pressing and holding directory keys. :/

Let us know which one you buy and if it works for you :) just to further confirm that entry in the list as working.

Reading this post reminded me an old post on a french board where Seita showed a trick to improve the size of your keyboard key's buffer :

Regedit: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Kbdclass\Pa rameters

Try to increase KeyboardDataQueueSize and let us know.

AFAIK, that'll only give you a few seconds more before it'll lock up.

There's also an option in the BIOS that can do this. For PS/2 keyboards IIRC.

Interesting, thank you for theses precisions Bonz. As I have an old ps2 keyboard but without keys lock, I just didn't try it.

Microsoft multimedia keyboard....
5years I got it, still working fine, even if sometimes my space doesn't work as it should, and also my arrows, which get virtually released as they aren't on my keyboard, but well, I paid it 30€, and I never regretted this buy. :P...
