The Wendigo spy Game - 6!

*GAME HAS BEGUN!!!* (yes, expect a copy paste of the previous thread.)

Alrighty then, since Grim feels like getting back into the mental fray of the game (and I know that at least some of you would like to take a crack at him now that he ain't godlike) I'll be your stunningly-handsome GM for this round. Screw that. I felt like organizing it this time. I was simply bored/etc.

I'm sure you're all familiar with the rules , but for clarity's sake I'll quote Grim's rendition of it, since I think he put them in a passingly acceptable way in the last game:

Bearing all that in mind, here are my well-or-ill-(we'll see) considered additions to the rules:

~ 1. Werewolves Vampires Wendigos are somewhat cool. But not as cool as SPIES! In this game, the "vampires" will be Wendigos spies: men who turn into yeti-like man-eaters at night men who backstab at night. They also zap dispensers. This is just a flavour thing, and otherwise should have no technical effect on the game.

~ 2A. One of the Wendigos will possess a special class of being the Godfather Cunning (Cheers bonz for the link!) If the Seer uses his special power on the Cunning (wait what?) Wendigo spy to detect what he is, the Cunning Wendigo spy will falsely come up as being Human with no special powers. This will make things a little more difficult for the humans, additionally considering that:

~ 2B. To clarify, The Cunning Wendigo spy counts as only a single special class in relation for the Priest, so he does not sense the loss of two special classes when/if the Cunning Wendigo dies. This rule is not decided yet. Any opinions?

~ 3. There'll probably be fewer Wendigos in relation to humans this time round. Take a deep sigh, everyone whose not a shoe mask size 35!

~ 4. By semi-popular request, there will be the Village Drunk spy Drunk. This is a purely role-playing class, and anyone may be selected to be the Drunk, even the Wendigos spies or the Cunning Wendigo Corkscrew. The Drunk must speak largely unintelligibly in-game, but otherwise can do anything that he could normally (vote, PM, etc.) This is purely for lulz, and does not come up as a special class. AA sessions are available during the game, upon request.

~ 5. I will be keeping to a strict-ish timetable. I haven't figured out the time exactly yet (grrr EST GMT+1), but there will be 24 hour Days, and 24 hour Nights. If PMs come in quickly during the nights, then I may post those results ahead of time and add the remaining time to the "Day."

~ 6. Aha! Grim just pointed out that we need a Tie rule. So my rule is: if there is a tie, I flip a coin. And yes, I have 3-sided coins, in case a 3-way. :P If someone can argue a better rule, then by all means speak up. Because I can't hear your thoughts, despite my best efforts to the contrary. (Although, I do have the first 3 numbers of Franpa's pin code... I think.)

Okay, I think that's it! I'll keep this application open until we get enough people or I don't think any more will be coming. If the game is too small, then I may be rid of the Cunning role, to give the humans a better chance.

OK, end of copy-paste. Feel free to join, and watch your back!

That has already been decided upon. Sorry.

Ahem, I join.

I have quite a wonderful image of a drunk spy...

Edit: With regard to the Cunning, I'd recommend using it only if the player count exceeds 14 or something.

Seer = Pyro
Guardian Angel = Medic
Priest = Admin :p

OK

The seer is the Spy checker (yes, anyone can spy check, not only pyros)
The guardian Angel is the Spy zapper (meh, couldn't think of anything better)
The priest is the Stat checker (Ran out of ideas after the first :()

For the sake of it. Everyone can choose the class you prefer, even spy... I mean, red spies can disguise themselves as blu ones... D:

Except Paul. He's being a medic.

Pirates don't have Scottish accents; that's Vikings, or Dwarves. Pirates have Devonshire accents, gritted up.

Obviously I wouldn't have mentioned it if that wasn't the case. I only said Scottish because that matches the Demoman's accent. Of course, Paul's suggestion regarding the demoman makes more sense.

12, while perhaps not ideal, should be enough. More is always better of course (Well, up to a point), and I would say 12 is pretty much a minimum, but it should work fine.

If you are referring to the delay, I can only assume Metal Alex is busy and will be able to get around to it one of these...eons.

2-3, Sans the Cunning role. I'd lean towards 2: you'd need at least 12 people for three.

No but there is usually quite a bit of reading to do. It's a bit time consuming to have to read trough everyone's reasons for voting and what-not. And not reading them is also a bad idea because people start accusing you of being a non-human when you don't get involved in the game.

GrimOswald

With only 11 people, it might be best if there are only 2. I would also suggest getting rid of the Priest, as it seems silly to have it with this few people.

Alternatively, we could spam every section of the forum until we get other people to play. :p

Roll a dice (d6): On a 1 to 4, go with three. On a 5 or 6, go with two.

Shadowmoon

I'd say 2. And I also agree with GrimOswald, we should scrap the Priest role for this round.

On a related note, I never fully understood why people sometimes say they need a break from games. I mean, sports games sure, but a break from non-strenuous games? Aren't games supposed to be a break from work-related stuff (for most people)?

Metal Alex
8 Feb 2009, 15:38

It takes a lot of thinking to play this game properly. Which is fun, but not exactly relaxing.

It's nice to have time to mull over stuff, and games tend to lose their fun if you play them too much. I find, anyway.

franpa
9 Feb 2009, 02:27
lots of good games generally require a good deal of concentration. Like in a FPS, if your not always paying attention to whats around you, someone may sneak up on you and kill you :P and the constant concentration required can tire you out etc.

another reason would be with puzzle games, sometimes the solution is too simple/elaborate for you to figure out consciously and requires you to "do other stuff" until the solution just... comes to you.
