regarding this (http://worms2d.info/Installing_WA_on_VirtualBox) manual I would like to know which version of VirtualBox is suited for WA. I am using Xubuntu and the latest version of VB, when I start WA I can hear the sounds of the menu but the screen remains black, so anybody here who gets it to work?

Yes I did. I am using XP and 2000 Prof, in both cases I get a black screen.
