I have worked on a ctf map that the game cant for whatever reseon read. Any suggestions ? i basicly took an existing ctf map and deleted everything and than did my map. Now when the game couldnt read the map i thought i could fool the game by copying all the content and moving it to another map but it still diddnt work . Anyone got an idea why ? I would rather not upload it here then run will make some parody review on it

It's an elaborate defense mechanism in the game that protects people from having to bear the dreadful atrocities that are your maps.

It probably does not conform to the PNG colour map specification (http://worms2d.info/Colour_map).

Whycant the game read my map
Because you're doing it wrong, obviously.

I seem to be having the same problem. I made a nice(ish) Russian Roulette map in Adobe Fireworks 8. I know what the problem is but I just can't find the option to change pallette limitations (having only just installed and used it today). Any help would be much appreciated.

PS: Oh, and as it's my first post, hi everyone.

It's doubletime that needs help, not angelus.

Check with TweakPNG if the image has the appropriate number of colours.

Mmmmmmmmmkay, I just downloaded the program. How do I check?

Open the PNG file and look at the PLTE chunk.

I think you forgot that unregistered users can read threads now.

Open the PNG file and look at the PLTE chunk.

There isn't one.

Then it's not an 8-bit PNG image. Follow the instructions (http://worms2d.info/Colour_map) on how to create one.

SpiritLord

I saved it as PNG-8, with 113 colours in the pallette. Anything else I might be missing?

Plasma

And the colour at palette position 0 is black, yes?

The best solution would be to upload it online (try imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.us), although I think they may resize it if it's too big) and post it here, so we can check ourselves.

Here it is. I saved it several times with different settings so this may not be the right one.

That won't do. The forum resizes and recompresses attachments.

Woops, sorry. Imageshack then. Should I put it as an attachement or into the post itself?

Not to mention changing it to a JPG

You upload your map to ImageShack, and post a link to it. I don't know what you mean by attaching an image hosted on ImageShack.

In the attachements window there's an option for uploading a file from an URL. Anyway heres the link.

It's a 32-bit image. You need to save it as an 8-bit (256-colour) PNG. Follow the instructions (http://worms2d.info/Colour_map).

SpiritLord

The instructions are a bit vague and unhelpful considering that I am using Adobe Fireworks 8 and not one of the programs listed.

You are being a little over-ambitious if you are expecting specific directions for every image editor out there. Use a little initiative and search around Fireworks for similair options regarding "Colour depth", "Colour reduction" or "Pallete options" etc. - I'm sure you'll find something.

Possible tip: You can often find these kind of options when saving the file.

I use Fireworks primarily. I can give you specifics for it:

What you want to do is EXPORT the png file you are working as an 8-BIT PNG.

1. Open your PNG file (the one that you are working on with layers and objects and stuff).
2. Go to the OPTIMIZE pallette.
3. Set the 2nd Drop Down box to PNG-8.
4. Set the type to Adaptive or Web-Adaptive (I use Adaptive).
5. Set the colors to anything from 64 - 112 (I use 64 because I like the objects blowing in the wind).
6. Set the dithering to 100% to avoid the nasty blocks of color.
7. Make sure the drop down says No Transparency.

Choose FILE, EXPORT and make sure it is set to Images Only. Make sure you DO NOT overwrite your PNG that you are working on. I usually make sure I am exporting right into the User/Saved Levels folder.

Next ou just choose your level from the drop down list in the Editor and play away.

Thank you very much, the only thing I did wrong was that I saved it instead, but when I open it in W:A the parts that should be black (and therefore the background) are white. Anything on that?

Yeah I followed the instructions for Photoshop (seeing as though it's the closest to Fw) but it yeilded no results which is why I said that the intructions were unhelpful, anyway problem (partially) solved now.

I would check to make sure that you are not using a transparency setting. If you want, you can also send me your map and I can look into it for you.

I would be ever so grateful if you did. E-mail, or should I send you a link through PM? I'd rather e-mail it but thought I should check first.

Go ahead and PM it to me since I would rather not post my email in a thread. I get enough spam as it is.

I just checked it now, and the white bit is the same in the image, I'll export one of the other ones I saved but go through the settings this time.

Fixed it, the problem was that the Matte colour was set to white. Thanks for all the help.
