It's been a long time. Im sure most of you dont know/remember me, but I see a few familiar faces around.

Ive gotten the itch, and I would like to play again, atleast for a short time. I havent played in.. 5 years probably.. so im really out of the loop on everything. I read the FaQ up top, but still kind of confused.

What should I do to get started? Install, patch, play? Anything else I need to know? Im also looking for some old maps too, I see the ol SfX site is up, and they have a good amount of maps, but still see alot missing. I saw that wmdb or whatever, but it seems they dont have any old maps. I didnt really browse BtP too much yet. Any other sites?

What about the game, do alot of people still play WA? What of W2, is that deaddead now? Has WWP taken over WA, or have WA and WWP merged as it was once speculated long ago?

Ill welcome any tips you have for me, im just an old Roper/BnGer, and I dont remember anything outside of that.

I may go by my old handle of Sephiroth, or use my newer SephYuyX, and ill sure to be rusty, so when you see me, try not to be too harsh :3

You install the game and update it to 3.6.29.0, then play. :)

As for maps, I guess there's only the 3 sites you mentioned.. Except there's also RRkit with RR maps.

W2 is still being played, I heard there were 10 people playing it the other day. WWP is as good as dead, lots converted to WA as it's the clearly better game (by now).

I don't know you but it's still nice to have you back. :)

Edit: There is one map im looking for in particular that I cant seem to find. It's one of the original warmer maps, it had a metallic look to it, and looks something like this if I remember correctly.

\User\SavedLevels, load them from the drop-down under the map on the main map editor screen (not the mini preview in the gamelobby)

Awsome thanks, I forgot about the map submenu. My drawing was completly off, for some reason thats the way I remembered it lol.

It seems I have everything up and running, except I cant host a game.
I wasnt able to connect to Wnet at all, but then saw http://worms2d.info/Hosting_Guide and got it working. So now I can login and connect to most other people's games, but I cant host my own.

Any suggestions?

The link you provided provides "all" known answers to any hosting problems you may be having, but if you have tried everything there with no success, you may like to take a look at the alternatives at the bottom of that page. (Most preferably for most; WormNAT2 (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=37390))

Man, seriously all of this has brought a tear to my eye, I cant believe it's been over 10 years since I started playing W2 and WA with some of you, and after browsing the .info website, and seeing my handles on there, it felt great being remembered. It's really a shame I lost all of my skill, I wish I could go back to the days around cl2k where (maybe im just speaking for myself lol) we were at the top of our game.

It's funny seeing some of those names and having all sorts of memories come back.

I remember 2 Sephoriths on WN, did you make the FF7 BR map?

There were a lot of Sephiroth's on WN lol. I was Sephiroth on W2, and both Sephiroth and later changed to SephirothYuyX on WA/WWP. I made some Ropers and BRs, but.. I dont see to recall an FF7 one.. was near over 7 years ago if I did, a pic would do wonders.
