I've been playing WA for nearly a year now and I want to try a league. I checked
http://worms2d.info/Leagues#League.2C_tournament_and_contest_sites
but a lot of that information seems to be outdated. Of the active English ones in that list I see:

Worm Winter Olympics -looks awesome, I'll participate in this

Crespo's Worms Tournament - looks good as well, but I don't think it's possible to register now.

The Ultimate Tourney/Ultimate Site - It looks like the new site is making progress but right now it's not very structured. Players just report their games, and are otherwise left to themselves to find who they play with. It seems good for people who have been in the Worms community a while, but I don't know anyone so it's hard to find a game :/

Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help.

My suggestion would be.

Play in the WWO just as you said, that'll keep you busy enough until the next big community league is released. :)

Watch this (http://www.facultyofworming.com) space.

It seems that you are looking for tournaments rather than for leagues, since the essence of a league is that: find your own games and earn points.

CWT is definitely a must if you like the scheme Intermediate. The 2008 season should be ending soon and then 2009 sign ups will be opened.

FTM also hosts 1-day tournaments quite often, I don't know the site but it can't be hard to find.

Last but not least NNN clan hosts Intermediate tournaments (also lasting 1 evening) and from time to time 2v2 mini leagues. Such events are announced in our forum: nnnclan.freeforums.org .

Alright, thanks for your suggestions, and I've bookmarked the new site to check back later.

I'm more experienced with rope games, but I enjoy intermediate just as much. The only thing I don't like about intermediate is how there's no worm placement in the beginning. There seems to be a little too much luck involved with that. It seems like mediocre players could beat pros due to poor worm placement in the beginning. Then again, I'm probably wrong - I'm sure wormers who have been playing this game for 10 years know the best way to play.
