I know there's some warning when you log into Wormnet which says that connecting to wormnet with illigal clients will get you banned, or something similar. Well there's no need to ban all players who use snoopers (though seeing a full room yet no one is actually on/playing is annoying..), but there is one person who clones other people and has had 4 or 5 clones at the same time (I would assume by using a snooper?).

He has a brazillian flag and uses the name el-excremento, but you might see a brazillian RichUK and Grunkk, scrub, among others when he is cloning people. He was on today, but the last time I saw him there were like 4 or 5 names which I thought were him (brazillian flag for non brazillian players), and they all left #AnythingGoes at the same exact time. It's not always easy to tell if it's him because some of RichUK's friends are brazillian, so the flag doesn't always give it away. Besides that, if he's cloning a bunch of people - they can't connect to wormnet without altering their names.

Is it too much to ask that annoyances like these get banned for their disruption of wormnet and peoples games? "el-excremento" never even plays any game he joins, he doesnt really attack people, he just wastes everyones time and types non-stop profanities.

I had him to join my game and I checked my netstat program which showed a connection from IP address: 75.39.192.131:4332. Here is a traceroute done on that IP:

75.39.192.131
75.34.83.38
151.164.88.244
151.164.93.74
151.164.248.17
67.17.106.134
207.138.112.145
192.168.1.41

The only other IP on netstat was mine, so I'm gussing that this is him. Someone once told me they were banned from wormnet for a while for connecting with an IRC program, so I'm guessing Team17 has banned people for less than what this el-excrimento guy is doing. (It would be nice if players had the option of banning players/IP's for life so they couldn't even join the game once they are on a players ban list...*cough*patch*cough*)

Here he is cloning RichUK, who anyone can tell you is not Brasillian, nor does he use a snooper to get the "? ? ?" rank next to his name:

That warning in the MOTD is really never enforced nowadays, a few months back back (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showpost.php?p=674843&postcount=17) CS made a nice pie chart showing what people use on WormNet. That good 13% of people using ProSnooper never get banned, nor does the other 1% (which includes me, KRD, Koen, CS, M3ntal, wormatty and a few others) who use normal IRC clients (you need to know the wormnet password for that).

What's the Wormnet password?

EDIT: Assuming that el-excremento is a dumb****, it should not be hard to distinguish him from your actual friends, nor should you worry about him posing a threat to your friends' image. He's a menace only if he starts to develop similar personalities, which I doubt he is capable of.

You have to look for it, or someone with the password has to like you.

And by "look for it", I don't (for once), mean that you should do www.letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=wormnet+password , I mean you should think of all the places where it could be, and look there.

According to CyberShadow, anyone who can't get the password in one of these two ways should not deserve to have the password.

I was not expecting a serious answer, otherwise I would have not asked.

Thanks for the replys guys.

Well I guess for an old game it's not likely that it would still be monitored. Though it would still be nice to keep him from even joining our games. I'm sure this has been requested by a lot of people, so what's the status on banned players lists? (Banned IP's, not names) Could something like this be incorporated into worms, or a snooper, to keep unsavory people from joining your games? Sometimes you're in a rush and can't interrogate everyone :D

Wouldn't people logging onto Wormnet with an IRC client be able to run all kinds of annoying scripts, and flood the chat, and maybe even boot other players?

RichUK was using his normal country flag yesterday and even said during our game, that he will be using a Brazillian flag today onwards. Grunkk has always been brazillian AFAIK o_O.

EDIT: you might be right about RichUK, he hardly spoke last game, and declined hosting one of his games when asked :/ never gave a valid reason like he normally does.

also there are people that play this game with Dial-up internet, and germany players have there IP changed regularly, so both can get accidentally blocked by people due to dynamic IPs. I believe thats the biggest argument against IP Blocking.

If you stopped telling everyone you have the awesome super privilege people would stop trying to be as cool as you and it would prevent potential trouble. Friendly advice.

The problem was him joining games and spamming the chat, lagging the game nonstop to the point of having to quit, then he'd rejoin under a different name...

Too bad tutorials about how to kick people in-game are not approved on this forum. Guess you'll have to set a password to your games, one that your friends will be informed of.

I know the method, wouldn't it be rather easy to write a tool for this? I'd give it a shot but unfortunately I'm not capable. Anyone?

Really, no need to write a tool (/module like wkICK).

Noob kickin' tutorial for any W:A version (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=36928) was very explicit... at least while it lasted.

This guy needs to be banned, seriously...

he has impersonated:
RickUK
Grunkk
Scrub
Myself and many others.

He is vulgar, he spams, and he is only playing the game to annoy others.

Just another attention hoe it seems. Better ban him before people start yelling at each other out of confusion.

The "El-Excremento" from Brazil, saga... it all began when I hosted several games and he joined in my game. Iceguy openly said that he was a 'gay man' after "El-Excremento" was running down and insulting all "non-straight" people.

Scrub and I and Iceguy play frequent games of hysteria as I add crates to the scheme and around 30 people on worms that I consider friends, like to join in.

At some point during the game, Iceguy and "El-excremento" had some kind of argument about gay people and I suggested that the discussion ended and the subject be changed or to concentrate on the game and enjoy the evening.

At which point "El-Excremento" said that we were all gay and then he started to put "endless text messages' very very quickly, in to the chat box and this caused a lot of lag in the game, the point where it was not possible to play any more. I do not know how he did this, I am not familiar with external (non standard) plugins for worms, other than rubberworm.

Ever since that one night, "El-Excremento" has been building up / compiling a list of my friends (Why he picked on me, I have no idea, other than I can only assume he did not like my politeness about changing to another subject in the chat window... and he thought because I have a "gay friend" that plays worms, that I must be gay... so I guess "El-Excremento" hates gay people).

Just for the record, I am a happily married man that started playing worm on the AMIGA COMPUTER in the early 1990s and still enjoy "The Directors Cut" of "Worms" on my AMIGA CD32.

Anyway, to date, "El-Excremento" has logged in as me, grunkk, a1, SquirrelMaster, Fr3d, Mumps, IceGuy, Scrub and many other people.... all of whom I have listed here, are good friends of mine. He has even logged in as various team members from the "SQD" clan / group of worms players and various other people that I have played.

At the moment, as I type this message, he is logged in as "El-Excremento" and "RichUK", so I have logged in as "RichUK1974". I originally started playing worms with my nickname "RichUK1974" but people could not remember the 1974 bit easily, so I dropped that bit from my name..... now I have to alternate between the two names when I initially login to wormnet, as "El-Excremento" is using some software that I am not familiar with, to login to wormnet as multiple names.

The easiest way to catch him out (until today) was to identify the "Brazil" / green flag next to the name... but now he has somehow managed to change his flag.

I am not sure if anything can be done. To be a "sport" I have no plans to say "ban him from the game", but on the other hand, I would like to see him behave more appropriately in the main "Anything Goes" area and in any games that he plays, as I know there are children from aged 10 upwards that plays worms..... I have helped some of them "join in" and trained some of them so they are not "classified as noobs", and this helps them with other hosts, as I know some hosts are quite strict on "whom they will let play a game", based on the SKILL LEVEL of the individual.

Good luck to all of us and remember to search "RICHUK1974" for my TUBE TRAP scheme and maps I drew. I know you can find me on a Google Search, I am not sure about other search engines :)

Assuming someone could connect to wormnet and join #anythinggoes through an IRC program, could that person then ban other people? Or at least kick them? Or does ChanServ have +ops :D?

Why not just ignore him? People can tell if it's the real person or not. He's gonna lose the fun once everyone stops paying attention to his nonsense.

Thanks for the information. I'm in #AG most of the time these days, so if you have doubts about someone's identity or see someone intentionally abusing someone's nickname, PM me and I'll try to look into it.

We'll investigate the in-game lag caused by the message flood. Are you aware of the possibility of ignoring a person's messages in-game? To do that, hold Ctrl and press the F key corresponding to that player (F1 corresponds to the first player on the list, etc.). Or, you can type /ex nickname.

Also, if you haven't yet, I recommend posting in the WormNET 4.0 username PRE-registration (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=3617) thread. Considering the current flow of events, it seems likely that secure logins will be back before 4.0.

i guess u could add brudi to that list as well... taking all pleasure in a game away when cloning happens. i remember playing with the real brudi who was quite polite, unlike this total *bleep*, just check the replay. i dropped the game, my apologies to the ppl who were in there. perhaps some idiots just randomly copy a name frm wmdb or other place and start 'having fun' their way.. i dunno :(
