Hey!
Well here is my problem: I installed Windows XP x64 Edition on my PC, works fine. I installed W:A, ran patch, installed 3.6.29.0 update and GFX update that the update's installer recommended and downloaded.

Problem: I run W:A, set scheme, whatever, and when the logo should be shown before the game itself starts, W:A quits and drops me back to the desktop without ANY error message.

Anyone can help?

Have you installed W:A from that CD in the past?

It is some kinda Macromedia stuff and it has this patch on the CD:
Worms_Armageddon_Patch_v.3.50.exe
I think this means it is the newer version of the CD.

But you didn't answer his question: is that particular individual disc one you have used before and it works?

I'm not aware of any authorized CD editions of the game that have the 3.5 Beta update on it.
You may be a victim of software counterfeiting.

This is the same version I used many times and worked perfectly. This CD is a 2007 Edition, sold in Hungarian shops.
I just installed new OP system, it is 64bit XP and now it has this problem.

If you're certain that you're correct (and not lying), we can try to analyze the problem.

Please install WormKit (http://worms.thecybershadow.net/wormkit/) and the following WormKit module: 30805
Run the game via WormKit.exe and reproduce the crash. You should get an error message mentioning ERRORLOG.TXT - find this file in your W:A folder, and post it here as an attachment.

As you wish, here it is.

W:A exited because a file that should have been present on the CD was missing. ERRORLOG.TXT alone doesn't mention which file it is, I'd need CRASH.DMP for that. Let's compare the files on your CD with those found on other editions.

Please run the commandcmd /C dir /S W:\ > C:\filelist.txtsubstituting W with the drive letter of the drive you have the W:A CD in. Then, post the file filelist.txt from your C:\ drive.

Also, please post the contents of W:\Data\Resource\version.txt, if such a file is present on your CD.

Here they are.

It's almost the same CD version as this one (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=35359). Is your CD in good condition? W:A may have simply failed to read a certain file. If you post the file CRASH.DMP from W:A's folder, I can tell you which one it is.

As soon as I got the disc I made an .iso file of it for myself and run it from my hard drive. I tried installing everything from the disc too but did not work either.

It does look like sold out software but messed up - the .Now files and the sonow (sold out now I assume) folder are both evidence for that.

It is Sold Out Software and Now Technology, just found on the CD.

The failure was with reading the file "D:\data\Level\Easter\Level.dir". Check if the file is readable - if it is, you can post it here so I can check if it's valid or not.

I am almost sure that this is not the source of the problem. I used the same disc the same way before, but on a normal, 32bit Windows. Now I have x64 and it doesn't work, i can do whatever I want.

Humour me and post the file, please. Judging by the code and crash dump, the problem could appear from either a corrupted file or if your computer ran out of memory.

As you wish. But I still don't understand why would that file be the one that makes error, because from the name, I think it is the scheme of the Easter level type, but this error occurs even if I try to play on a map made by me for instance.

Sorry, I forgot you were using an ISO. Please contact me in #worms (http://worms2d.info/Worms_on_GameSurge) and we'll debug this problem.

Looks like this issue has already been fixed since the last Beta...

That's right, thank you ;)

The problem hasn't actually been resolved in W:A, because it's not (really) a problem with W:A. The problem was that X-Ray99 had a CD with the label "WA" inserted in a drive letter that's alphabetically before the real drive containing W:A's CD. W:A searches for its CD in alphabetical order, and only looks at the CD label. Thus, W:A was trying to load a file from the wrong drive letter.

The next W:A Beta will show an error message instead of crashing silently, and will possibly have stricter CD recognition (e.g. checking for a file that should be present on all genuine CDs).
