Hi I'm new, and I have a problem. :(

I decided to install this game on my PC since I missed playing it, but when I tried to install a error message appeared, and it says:

"An error (-5006 : 0x80070017) has occurred while running the setup.

Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: Codemasters."

Then it just shut down the setup. Help me! I hope I don't need to buy another CD because on my country I've found only pirate (illegal) copies. And they are full of virus. (by the way, I ordered my W4M from Nederlands, and I didn't buy any of these pirate copies.)

EDIT: Some more information: I use Windows XP, and when I click "Details" this appears:

Error Code: -5006 : 0x80070017
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1363)
pAPP:Worms 4 Mayhem
PVENDOR:Codemasters
PGUID:45E7C481-3EF4-4FCB-AF0B-19F70D618F0C
$10.1.0.238

Welcome. Give us your configuration (right click on My Computer and then Properthes). Maybe you have something wrong on your pc. Try installing the game onto another pc, just to be sure it isn't the cd. If the setup give you the same error on another pc, then it is the cd :( If a previous setup is still running (from others setup) and you don't know this, go into Task Manager and close all the processes that have "setup" in their name. Hope it helped :)

I'm sure it isn't the cd, since I managed to install it on my brother's Vista. My configs:

ATI Radeon 9200
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz, 1,50GB RAM

I think that's it?

Did you try by closing all the processes from the Task Manager wichh have "setup" in their name?

Yeah, it appears 2 "setups", one closes the install and other does nothing.

Ok. If you can't do nothing with Task Manager and the game still doesn't install, try closing Messenger, Download managers, Emule and programs like those and retry installing. Check out the HDD to see if the game has created the folder for the game and copied some files. If it is, delete all, empty the Recycle Bin, close all the programs wich you don't need and retry. ;)

Didn't work. :( I even tried to close all processes on Task Manager with my username on it (except for explorer.exe), but game still refuses to install. :(

Also, on the backup disk I made (because I formatted my PC) I found the Codemasters folder with the Worms 4 Mayhem folder. The game only runs if I run the Worms 4 Mayhem.exe, if I try to use the launcher it tries to install.

Well. If it says to install, but you have the folder with the files, then you have something wrong on your Windows registry. That means you have installed the game, but it didn't install how it must be installed. So there isn't a certain key that certificate you installed the game. Tomorrow i will send you via pm the key, because i had this problem too, and downloaded the key from internet (i don't remember what i typed in Google). Hope it helped you :)And hope it will work :) Just wait the key for tomorrow ;)

I was wondering, do you still have the key? I got the same error, but can't find a solution anywhere else on the internet. :(
