View Full Version : Aku's Visual Guide to Comic Characters

on this forum most sigs are generally fairly generic in terms of personality. while making a comic it can be hard to sift through the uninteresting characters to find the ones with defining personality traits.

I've decided to start a one-stop-shop for character designs with unique personalities that you may want to actually use for making comics.

we already have a thread to organize all the characters by owner (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?p=548674#post548674), so I figured it'd help to have a similar thread for characters who have defining traits they are well known for that people can look at specifically while trying to put together a cast for comics or just general fan art or whatever else.

done in image form to make it easier to provide a general idea of the character. for in-depth information obviously you should visit the respective profiles.

check the character profile thread before using these to ensure that the characters haven't been changed. mine, for instance, is out of date

Get a better image host. One that allows you to link to images in forum.

Pretty cool guide. Never knew GrimOswald had an evil scientist sigworm (Or I knew and forgot.)

I'd given up with the profile thread long ago...

Incidentally, Paul needs a beard.

Well Paul's beard is up to the artist, as the original sigworm didn't have it...

My sigworm has next to nothing for personality I know xD

I love what you did with Andrew there. :p Something about HK is a little spooky, though... And is PB supposed to be fat? I missed that... :p

That aside, good idea, and well done.

I love what you did with Andrew there. :p Something about HK is a little spooky, though... And is PB supposed to be fat? I missed that... :pPB isn't necessarily SUPPOSED to be fat, but any time I think of a jolly optimist I think of a fat man....just my personal thought process there being reflected in my drawing.

That aside, good idea, and well done.thank you. I thought it would make it easier to pick out the ones with clearly defined personalities if you're going to use them. that way you don't give someone a completely off personality, like making my character into something like pigbuster's :p

Good idea is good. Maybe someone will be inspired to make a comic. Hint hint nudge nudge wink wink say no more. And by that I mean someone should make a comic. Here. With some of these characters. For this forum. With worms. In comic form.

Also yay for me being there. :) 'm flattered.

OBJECTION!

Both comics I have tried to make I had my artist bail out after one or two comics. :( If I could find a reliable artist I would be more than happy too.

Eh, reminds me I should seriously get on writing that damn background for my sigworm. I have all the ideas I need, clearly defined personality and everything else, I just can't write them down.

Anyway, great, that may help me if I decide to start some random forum comic. Haven't been drawing worms for a while.

Good point.

Incidentally, for all concerned, I've finally decided to change my sigworm. He'll still retain the metal hand, but that's about it.
It should also make him a lot more... defined, I guess.

Mostly, I'm just finalising thoughts and waiting for Apoc to get back to me on a character pic now.

If your new sigworm wears a fedora and has an obsession with three-leaved clovers I will MAKE YOU MY GOOD FRIEND give you FREE PUDDING.
Also, I'm in it. AHAH.

Akuryou13

How on earth did you manage to do that? The only way I can think of is if you had typed out the address, posted it, then copy-pasted that post and edited your post to include the copy-paste.
Which is a bizaarely bizaare thing to do.

No, you fail for not realising the postcount doesn't really matter whe you're linking directly to the post.

Edit: and that link has JUST the right number of characters to look very... suggestive. It was an accident, I swear!

How the hell can I fail at linking? I used the exact same URL aku did.
And you didn't notice that the link had an ellipsis and little more information than a small post number that could in no way indicate the overall post number in the forum? And that vB shortens links to fit better? No?

Heck, because I'm probably the last one who can use this award since Shadowman got more mature:
