I have kind off a big amp connected to my comp, wich I would prefer not to have to turn on for playing worms, would there be a way to use the onboard sound-card, i.e. a second soundcard for WA to wich I'd connect desktop speakers?

PS: my main soundcard is a pro soundcard wich has only 1 input and 1 output, no headphones, etc...

I don't think so, although havent tried it in a while.

Windows can have multiple sound devices installed but I think turning on onboard soundcard will disable the main one, or in the very least confuse the hell out of it. You could try using USB speakers, I managed to get sound out of main audio and voice out of USB headphones easy enough. Of course, you could just get some splitter cables and plug your sound card into both AMP and PC speakers. If you get decent cables/splitters I don't imagine you'd notice a difference in quality.

Yes, you can have diff sound devices installed, however, you cannot use more then 1 at a time in Windows. There is software that can make use of 2 soundcards, mostly DJ mixing software, I know there is a Winamp plugin that will send audio to multiple soundcards. The USB speakers I hadnt though of, I'll look onto that, but I fear I may stumble into the same problem.
Using splitting cables isn't an option though, I want to retain full audio quality and I know from experience using splitters does have an impact on quality.

You can switch between the two as to which one windows uses primarily:

Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices:

Audio Tab | Default Device (drop-down list): Select the soundcard here

I guess it should be possible for you to make a script in AHK to switch default audio devices by pressing a key on the keyboard. If you know how that is. :)

Ehrm, multiple soundcards do work simultaneously in Windows.

I have a Soundblaster Audigy card for my 5.1 system and an onboard audio device which I use for my headset.
When I play games I have nice surround sound on my speakers and have Teamspeak on my headphones.

In fact, USB speakers and USB headphones are nothing more than an additional audio device just like any other.

Just do what Malevol3nt says and select your onboard audio device as the default one.

First of all, thanks for the replies.
I do know about switching between sound devices, and in Vista, things are a bit different (I'm no noob in these matters) ;) Switching the output would be an option.

However, Bonz, what you are saying is what I need, if I understand correctly, you have
Game sound => output Soundcard 1
Teamspeak => output onBoard soundcard

This is what I'm looking to achieve. So my question is, what did you do to have the audio from teamspeak go exclusively go to the onboard soundcard? Is there an option in Teamspeak that lets you output to a specific soundcard? I'm guessing there is -like there is in Skype- in other words it's application depended. An option to output to a certain soundcard should be in WA to make this happen.

Bonz, as I said I'm no noob in these matters and I'm pretty sure when I say Windows will NOT output to multiple soundcards at the same time without 3rd application help (i'd be happy to be proven wrong ;)). Things like a Winamp plugin, Skype, audio editing software like Adobe Soundbooth have an option to output to a specific soundcard that is not necessarilly the default one.

Yes.

Hi, please try this module.

Put it in your W:A folder, run WormKit and it'll tell you what to do.

First of all, thank you. I'd never imagined it could go so fast, and if it'd work with a WormKit module, perfect :)

It's not having it though, I dont know if I'm doing anything wrong, I've placed a file called WASoundCard.txt in the WA folder, with following in it:

AD0804C7-E18B-49CC-8FAB-BC5BF7E7DEB6

wich is whats between {}, not including them. I've tried different things too, with the {} andso on.
The message keeps appearing though!

EDIT: problem solved thanks Cyber! double extension FTW!

Thanks a lot for this module! I use multiple soundcards as well, but I just used the Windows control panel to switch between them. This module will save a few annoyances in the future!

2 things:
1) amazing module, I love ti and you should add it to the wormkit site.
2) do you happen to know of nay music players that also allow soundcard choosing.

Edit: nvm foobar does it....I think i'm in love.

This module should work with any DirectSound-enabled application. So, you could try running your non-multiple-soundcard-aware player via WormKit.
