I think the lines are... crap, you should clean the image a bit, I know it's a doodle, but that doesn't mean you have to have messed up lines. :-/

it's very, very BIG!

But it's also a bit bland and a tad too scribbly.

Never label your images. You are telling me that he is a crazy haired swordsman (or a crazy-hair swordsman?). In either way neither the worm or his hair looks crazy. If you are going to say he's crazy make sure the drawing says the same thing. He just looks mildly worried about something that's offscreen.

Also, crop away the whole right side of the image, and also the bottom. There is _nothing_ going on there and therefor a waste of space.

I might actually commit this time!

A part of me hopes you don't.

I kid, of course. Your style shows potential but needs a lot of work. And, yeah, the image is frakking huge.

yeah I noticed that after it was posted... too lazy to change it... Thanks for not flaming me everyone... I really couldn't take it as of late... I'll work on it... keep in mind I drew that in like... less then 5 minutes maybe? right now I'm not in a good mood so I'm prolly going to spend an hour drawing something...

You shouldn't really time yourself. There's no set time for how long a picture should take to draw. When you are happy with it then it is finished. This could be and hour or like a year it doesn't really matter so long as it looks nice when it's finished.

At least you've got a nice style going, just... not so scribbly.

As other people noted, it isn't necessary to make an image match your screen resolution.
Especially one so simple.

It's nice though. The art style that is, not the size.

Yeah, you can resize it with ImageShack. There's an option at the main page.

Why would you create an image so pointlessly big to begin with?

so that any flaws can be easily hidden by resizing the image.

It's gonna take more than that.

Surely you should do your best to correct these flaws as opposed to just trying to cover them up and lower the quality of your picture?

Scaling an image down a bit can often make it look a little smoother and finished, but you don't need to go over the top.
There's very little reason to start an image that's 1280x1024 in size, unless you intend to create a very detailed and extravogent piece.

To be fair though, I have pointlessly created a 1500x1500 piece before now.

Well with bigger pictures you can definitely fit in more detail if it's needed, but then it generally stays that size with a thumbnail preview.
But if you're doing it in Flash, you don't need a huge canvas anyway, as you can draw outside of it.
