I just want to browse wormnet with my IRC client, but there is a password. I know people say that it is "well-known" but I can't find it anywhere on the internet, and I don't know enough about reverse engineering to get it out of one of the snooper apps (unless one of them is open-source, I haven't checked). So, could anyone be kind enough to post/PM it to me?

I was under the impression that the server "checked" to see what client you were using and, if it isn't WA or WWP, it kicks/tempbans you.

It's supposed to be "secret" although more and more people know it nowadays. It wouldn't be a good idea to make it totally public, for obvious reasons.

I used to say that if you aren't experienced enough to find the password on your own, then perhaps you don't deserve to know it.

Come on guys, what is so bad about using an IRC client to chat in WN?

The server wasn't designed for the "freedom" of IRC clients and there could be bugs and other things when doing things not normally possible in the games client. (things that obviously use the server, not things that are solely done on the end users client)

It's also a little irritating when the wormnet userlist gets clogged up with people who are just idling and not actually playing any games.

but for example, hosting a tourney with IRC client is waay easier then with snooper or in the lobby..

But yeah, now that someone (not disclosing who) gave me the password, I've been helping loads of people in #help
