It's looking that way, yes. The engine is pretty much a PC rebuild of the original Sonic2 MegaDrive engine. TheSonicRetard is a huge Sonic geek and there are threads full of info over on the PA Forums where he talks about incredible technical details.

Interesting sidenote: Nintendo generally pruned unnecessary files from their in-house developments during the 90s. Sonic Team kept theirs in...

I love the various old beta roms from Sonic Team. Sonic 2's the best of them, too, with bits of levels left in and all sorts.

Very nice indeed. Looks like it's going to be a tremendous amount of work, but yes, ace stuff.

(and that mix of old and new graphics reminds me of what they're currently doing with OpenTTD. So yes, fun)

In fairness, every free project is run by dicks and that never seems to stop them.

I've learnt that big projects need someone willing to be a dick just so things can actually get done. That's pretty much how things work in the Entertainment Industry.
