This is something I've been wondering about for a while. Will we ever see a patch release for our beloved PSP version? There's a bunch of bugs that could use a fix for the ultimate experience, both cosmetic and other, as I'm sure more than me have noticed.

As long as they don't fix the "Floating Worms" glitch.

Kill Zone is the only PSP game that has ever received a patch and that was because it didn't work as advertised (it was also a Sony owned game and most likely had a much higher budget).

It would be nice though, and they should also include the orginal six landscape types from Worms Open Warfare as well, for more variety. Also I think that with enough public outcry for a patch, we might still get on. For people who think this is impossible, read about Jericho(TV Series) on wikipedia and learn the power of the community.

Normally, I'd say 'no', but if there's going to be downloadable extras for the game, some bugs might be fixed after all.
Whether there will be downloadable extras or not is the question though. (and there'll always be speculation as to if this (http://www.dream17.co.uk/index.php?id=457) means anything.

the way i understand it, wow2 _is_ the "patch" for the wow. so... wow3 maybe?

You understand incorrectly.

so where is the patch for all the bugs in wow, then?

That's a very, very bad argument. Using that logic, Worms 2 is the patch for Worms: The Directors Cut (which even patched has a few minor glitches and errors). Your logic, as usual, has more holes in it than the plot of a Uwe Boll movie.

Completely non-existant.

You sound like you were expecting one...

You sound like you were expecting one...
not really. i just remember somebody throwing something along the lines of, "why patch wow when wow2 is going to be released soon." and on some level it makes sense*, which is why i referred to the second game as a patch. but in light of that, i see people asking for wow2 to be patched to be somewhat ironic.

* same thing essentially happened with wwp following w:a. patch+mission pack in a standalone package.

How is that ironic?! You very clearly how no concept of irony.

good point. what is ironic about a 3rd game being released on the same engine and still requiring a patch? i suppose, i just wish it was ironic. you know, it would just be nice to expect such things not to happen. then it would be ironic.

not aimed at t17, by the way. it's the state of the whole industry.

Right.

Does anybody know what Quakerworm is on about?

No, it didn't. WWP was an online-focussed game designed (I think) for the Dreamcast, which was released cross-platform because Dreamcast exclusives have never been a smart business model.

Edit: Sorry Plasma, I don't know what he's on about any more than he knows what irony means.

What he seems to be saying is that it would be strange to talk about patching WOW 2 now when he got the impression that, before it was released, people settled for the sequel rather than complained about the bugs in the first game and request they be patched. He seems to be jokingly suggesting we could just wait for WOW 3 instead rather than bother requesting a patch for WOW 2.

He also seems to have touched on the fact that in some respects WWP was W:A with a patch, and that it seems to have taken a while to release patches for both of those games.

He seems to say he wishes for it to be ironic that we would choose a sequel over a patch, presumably because that would make the issue of an unpatched game stand out more than he thinks it does. Obviously, having to pay for things to be fixed is of concern in anything in life if you were expecting it to be functional when you bought it. But with software, the average user is probably inclined to be lenient because they know what's involved.

Quakerworm?

in single player, maybe. multiplayer in q2 was better than in original, not to mention all the mods. something just clicked right in q2 for pure deathmatch. something that no game i played since has quite recaptured.

simple weapon set. simple rules. great maps. and with skill, you could kill a guy with a bfg wielding nothing but a blaster.

Well, Quake 2 was essentially just a patch, anyway.
