View Full Version : Ever heard of supporting your game Team17?

This was my first Worms game. Granted I had played the Worms:Armageddon demo back in the day, this XBLA Worm was the first title I played regularly. My question is what has happend to the support for this game? After a few background downloads Team17 has seemingly fallen off the face of the planet. There is no response for future plans and no patches to fix the numerous bugs that have been pointed out. I wonder if it's all the complaining from people that led Team17 to kind of just forget this project. I don't know anymore, I was kind of looking forward to a disc release of a fleshed out Worms game to be released...but the way this game has panned out I'm not really sure I care anymore. Anyone wish to add their 5 cents to this topic?

I don't play this much online, more at home so I haven't really bumped into many glitches, at least my friends and I don't look for them, we just try to have fun. However, I would like to see more backgrounds become available, or more voice packs, anything to freshen the game up a bit. And for the people online, if there are still glitches/bugs, it'd be nice to see them fixed.

How about a Worms Uno deck for Uno?

I remember posting a few of the glitches that I ran into. At the time, Team17 acknowledged them and said they were looking into it. This was 2007...I hadn't been back to the site in months and when I did, I noticed there was basically zero communication between Team17 and the people on the forum. When Worms was first released I remember the mods and programmers were pretty responsive on this forum...now....nadda.

Don't count on Team 17 supporting this game anymore. They still have their backs turned on the "Manhattan" theme problem - other than "get a refund." I'm currently on the phone jumping through hoops with XBL support trying to get my 150 point refund. Why did I wait so long, because I sorta thought "eventually they'd fix it". Stupid me.

Thanks Team 17.

I'm pretty sure it's Microsoft you should be complaining to. However this might not be the case.

But if T17 would have fixed the issue rather than just pulling it, it wouldn't have happened

if T17 hired a competent Beta Testing team, then this would never have happened.

I believe it's actually Microsoft who handled the playtesting on this one...

I've been continually told that the points were reimbursed for Manhattan, but I'll look into again when I have the opportunity.

In terms of supporting the game, we've released a bunch of stuff (a fair bit of which was free) and we'd like to think the game offers pretty good value in playability/cost ratio. More backgrounds aren't necessarily going to make you have a bunch more fun.

There will be more to come from us on digital platforms, we've been very busy on a number of other projects, but other stuff is in the works.

More backgrounds = more fun for me. I dont know why.

I mean Worms is cool. Worms 2 would make me forget we ever had this conversation. How about it?

Sounds like a good deal to me.

I'll take it.......wait.....what?

Hey! Now it's about time for me to use my famous argument!

If you want something programmed: Learn how to program yourself and do it by yourself.

XNA Creators Club is there for a reason, and soon it's going to be way easier to upload, download and rate games. Also, you can get sponsored and then hired professionally, if they like what they see.

It has recently been announced that Worms XBLA was the second best selling XBLA release in 2007. So it looks like Team17 made a good profit on the game. I think they should use some of this money to create one last patch for the fans. This would improve their reputation and maybe increase sales of the inevitable next XBLA game.

Allow me to reiterate; learn how to program and make your own Worms game. If you want Team17 to be bothered to do this, how about YOU be bothered and get off your lazy behind and do some work.

I don't know if you're aware, but your suggestion is idiotic, so stop being an idiot. I mean, I didn't like Juno at all and if I happen to be a member of a Juno forum I will share my views on it, and it'd be stupid for anyone to suggest I make my own movie.

No need to reinvent the wheel, robo. Unless the wheel is closed-source and actually has something wrong with it (like Windows, IE, WLM etc). Despite some problems with it, W:XBLA is still fun to play even when there are glitches. Just stop getting so damn competitive! Who the **** cares that a cheater is at the top of the leaderboard? Since people know that cheating exists, they obviously don't take it seriously! If someone cheats, just D/C! Cheating is worse than D/Cing.

Ah yes, but if you were a member of a Juno fan forum and you maekd poast telling people there that you didn't enjoy it, that might be taken as trolling.

Just a thought.

Just pretend I said FOX forum then, or stick to the argument that someone disagreeing with something Team17 has done shouldn't post it here and spend his time making videogames, your choice.

I don't know about you, Yakuza, but I'd certainly prefer less people trolling and more people making videogames around here...

Yeah, because the videogame industry would benefit from trolls making games.

Wait, so because I think your analogy fails to convey the point you're trying to make, I disagree with your point?

The argument "Well if you don't like what I'm doing you should go and do it yourself then!" never really held up for me. "Let's see you do any better" doesn't work, either. You don't need to know how to play the piano to appreciate a good piece of music, you don't need to be an artist to enjoy a fine painting, and you don't need to be a videogame developer to enjoy a good game.

Worms XBLA is not without its faults. These faults may never be addressed, and the fact is that Team17 aren't particularly on the ball when it comes to game updates. Worms 3D, Worms Forts: Under Siege and Worms 4: Mayhem all have unresolved bugs and glitches. Addiction Pinball doesn't support gamepads despite having the option, and the promised patch to enable an online scoreboard never materialised. World Rally Fever doesn't work on any computer using Windows 98 or higher unless you run it in DOSBox. Worms: The Directors Cut was eventually patched, but Team17 didn't tell anyone about it and they didn't make the patch disk available to anyone via AmiNET or the few remaining Amiga magazines that were about (in fact some staff at the time were completely unaware that the patch disk existed).

So yeah, the game may never be patched. That's just Team17's way.

The "If you don't like it you should go make a better one yourself" argument is actually the worst argument in history ever, and anyone who tries to use it seriously is an idiot.

Just my views. I know none of you care.

If that is true, then wouldn't there be a record of it at https://billing.microsoft.com/ ?

The point of that argument was to try and show to these people who want Team17 to keep on doing stuff for current games whilst they're busy with other projects how long it takes in game development to do things, even patching.

Some people try, and then stop and think when they see the massive workload they need to put in to get anywhere.

Its not reasonable to suggest that you should have make a retail game before you criticise one that you have paid for as a consumer. However, just because you can criticise a product it doesn't mean that you are right.

I believe that Worms XBLA was "most played game 2007" on XBLA, so it must have done a few things right.
