working on the following worm for this month's compo. I've got it pretty well finished, but I want to know what you guys think about the wings. at the angle that he is at, do you think the other wing would be visible at all? I think it maybe should be visible, but I'm not certain, and even then, I know it wouldn't be much, and I can't think of which spots it would be sticking out from. any help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: and I just noticed the gun appears as if viewed from above while the worm appears as viewed from below. so if you're going to start critiquing the perspective, I'm aware of the major issue here.

How does the wing function? Is it a hangglider type of thing? It's attached at one point on it's triangle shape, I don't see how it could resist any wind without bending back.

You might need to increase CL, not really sure there's adequate camber to give sufficient lift especially while carrying a payload like that. Just make sure the centre of lift is aft of the centre of gravity - ensure d-Cmg/d-CL < 0 for stability.


Seriously though, I think some of the bottom corner of the wing would be visible, but not really sure. That's not really my area of expertise ;)

Well at first I thought it was a cape that wasn't drawn at the right angle. The other should be visible.

I don't understand the logic behind it, or complete lack-there-of, I'm just going with what's actually in the game.

CL is the coefficient of lift of a wing - technically the "L" should be a subscript.

Wingspan-to-weight ratio's all wrong.

Wingspan-to-weight isn't a commonly used ratio, more wing surface area to weight.

Or wing thickness to chord (length from front edge of wing to back edge of wing), or even aspect ratio (area^2/wingspan)

I'm no expert so what I'm writing probably won't make much sense, but I'll give it a shot anyways. Looking at the reference pic, your pic should look more like a hangglider instead of wings:
- It should have a more overall triangle shape, with lighter curves
- The hangglider is only attached to the back of his head and kinda flows from there
- The "wings" should definitely be longer to be proportionate to the worm body.
- The other "wing" should definitely be visible, since again, they're not actual wings, so they're all in the same plane.

Also, what angle are we seeing the picture from? Wouldn't it be hard to make a classic forward jump with thoose wings, or are we looking right up into the sky with the worm above us?
