At this point i cant even begin to recall how much ive read and tested though to mkae the frustrating job of helping me a little easier ill try my hardest...

My aim is to set up a game between my laptop and my pc so me and my dad can vs eachother, simple enuff or so i thought

Im using a NETGEAR DG834G, the laptop hooks up wirelessly and my pc uses ethernet cable, the laptop runs WXP SP2 and my pc uses vista ultimate now i have 2 seperaste cversions of the game and they are both patched to 1.0.5.
i run the frontend.exe normally on the laptop and i run the frontend.exe in xp sp2 compatability on my vista pc. at this point ive become so frustrated with it all and have simply turned off every firewall and antivirus program on the face of the sun. eliminating it all down to wat i hoped would be the router. currently ive forwarded all the ports on liksi.com to my ip 192.168.x.x plz tel me thats the problem no i dont have a fixed ip and im realllly unsure how to do it ive read a few guides and they all end up making it impossible for me to access my router which i kind of need usually id be able to make this simpler but right now im just extremely confused any help would be reallllllly appreciated few more intersting observations are that when i select the lan version my pc can see the laptops useranme but it cant see me.

and when i use the ip switcher im able to atleast join people but both the pc and the laptop have the same ip address, thats to say when i access www.whatsmyip.com with both of them i get the same thing. not sure but i think thats another issue that needs resolving.

play over a network instead of the internet? that way your internet IP doesn't matter.

This is the correct answer.

That, or just hotseat.

How do you commect up a network? i have worms 2 for my laptop, my friend also has worms for his laptop. Have a normal PC upstairs but no copy of worms.

How can I connect them all without restoring to online play?
Will I need a third copy of Worms for a third person to play?

You need a copy of Worms for each computer which logs in, but if it's similar to WA, you can put more than one team in from the same computer (i.e. some people hotseat on one PC against others around the network)

If your friend lives elsewhere, internet play is probably your only answer.
The "Same IP" thing is because both computers are connecting to the Internet through the same router (the router is all the outside world sees, I think)
