Hi folks,
I just installed my good old worms2 (trymedia).

BUT

the game itself doesnt run in fullscreen!! I got a Widedisplay (1280x800) and i can remember that it ran in fullscreen. What was the mistake? can anyone help me? I dont want to play in a quarter of the screen!!!

What was the mistake?

(trymedia).

Fact.

Just joking. Altough usually the trymedia versions are indeed a bad idea.

Not for worms 2, as they don't have new beta updates.

The problem is that Worms 2 was made in a time when widescreen monitors didn't exist. It only supports standard resolutions. Trying another resolution will invole the screen being cropped/black space, or the image shrunk/stretched.

the game by default uses a resolution of 640x480 and there is some 3rd party patcher programes that can up the games resolution and even includes widescreen resolutions. "regulator" may be able to help you more.

Well, there was a discussion about including Worms 2 in the v4.0 merge too.
So, if that should ever happen, you're probably better off with the CD version, as I doubt that Trymedia will release the patch immediately.
(Plus, should any quick fixes be released shortly after as betas, you'll be screwed again.)

wtf is regulator?
Hello :)

Franpa speaks the truth, try that patch from your Worms2 folder.
Do you know what version of the game you have, incidentally? The "Frontend" icon should have a worm with a number above it's head, usually 105 or 107.

hi regulator, thx for the help. but it doesnt work.
i copied the patch into the worms2 folder, but it still says wrong file size.
i have version 105, but no matter what i do, i cannot get it to work in fullscreen!

I even got me the full game without cd, but after applying the nocd patch i get the c++ failure...

HELP:eek:

Franpa, are you sure that fix would work on a Trymedia version?

I even got me the full game without cd, but after applying the nocd patch i get the c++ failure...

Little tip: discussing pirated games is against forum rules, even if you have a paid-for versiou of that game.

In other words, don't bother trying to get a no-cd version, just wait for a solution here.

Deary me. Delete any illegal copies you have, you won't be needing them.

Now, your version 105 is a legal copy, correct?
If so, you need to copy the folders "Level" and "Mission" from your CD "Data" folder, into your Worms2 directory "Data" folder, before applying the patch. I suggest un-installing everything, then re-installing your legal copy and trying that.

Also, you say the game runs in a quarter of the screen. Do you mean just the frontend, or in-game? What happens when you try to start a game?

Woe to me! I found the files "piratefiles" with the note that those were supplied and offered by team17...

anyway, regulator, the problem is that I bought the trymedia version. So I don't have a cd from where I could copy the files. And btw, those folders already exist.

If I copy files from the "pirate" into the trymedia version and patch them to 105, I need the cd, its clear. But, if I try to deal with that through your patch it still screws up...

Again, the only question is how I can manage to get my Trymedia Version runnigng full screen. Right now the Frontend runs in the window style (normal?) and the game runs in an area centered on the screen, quarter/fifth the screensize surrounded by a black screen. Understandable??

puh, hope I can get it to work...

Sorry, I probably should have picked up on this earlier but maybe I didn't understand.

You have a Trymedia download of the game, correct?
If this is the case, why are you trying to run a no-CD patch with it? Isn't it already without a CD?

I would still strongly recommend deleting anything illegal or pirated. Then, un-installing your Trymedia version and installing it again with no patches or files copied (If it's version 105 already, you won't need the Team17 patch.)

Now, what's the situation? :)

Regulator, it seems that the Trymedia version doesn't run full-screen, but with the standard resolution with a black border around.
(On his system at least, I don't know if it does that normally.)

He wants to get that unofficial patch to increase the resolution with it, not to get the Trymedia version to run without a CD that it doesn't need anyway.

Somewhere somebody had a similar problem with such a black border around a low-res game screen.
IIRC, it was a setting of his graphics card/drivers that didn't interpolate the 640*480 screen on his high-res display, but retained the original resolution.
Try looking around in your graphic driver settings.

@bonz: exact. The only thing I try is to get a fullscreen...
It seems as the trymedia version is not supported from the patch...

I try some more resolutions, but on the long run i think i have to blow the whole machine up ;-)

If you can get the Worms2 ISO from a CD or a friend or something, you can copy the folders from there, after mounting the image. And the patch should then work.

El Porno
29 Nov 2007, 19:57
hm, seems as that produces the c++ error...

franpa
29 Nov 2007, 23:06
OK, all you need is the resolution parts of said patch, the rest are not to be touched :P

so reinstall the game then adjust its resolution then play... the nocd changes where the game looks for its files thus causing the C++ errors.

I might have the best solution for you, If I were you, I'd go to the online Team17 shop and buy the Bundle pack containing W2, WA and WWP. Then you put both W2 and WWP in a safe, install WA and enjoy yourself.

well, all (most) of what was in worms 2 is in worms armageddon, plus support for high-res widescreen monitors
the frontend might be small, though

oh, and if you do get wa, don't get the trymedia version. ever.

2D Worms games are sold in packs on Team17's internet store. The least expensive pack includes Worms 2 (the game you like) and Worms Armageddon (the better game). You can have both games installed on the computer at the same time.

Are you sure you have version 105? I've heard of people having this problem before, but that's because they've had an older version than 1.0.1.5 and not updated with T17s official patch. Try right-clicking your Frontend icon and checking it's properties, then File Version.

If this is the case for you, re-install again, apply the patch from here (http://www.worms2.com/main.html?page=supp&area=patc&file=1), and then try Des's patch again.
