Which TCP/IP port should be forwarded on a firewall to host a Worms World Party game on a machine that is behind this firewall ?

TCP: 80, 6677
UDP: 17010, 17011, 17012

I forwarded all those ports on my router, but still, nobody could join my game.. what else could be wrong ?:(

Err, what IP address do they think they are connecting to?

It may be that Worms Armageddon is picking up the wrong IP address, in which case you will need to force the IP address you get from your ISP.

how do I do that ?
I'm connected through my router, so my computer doesn't know what my WAN IP is.

Well that's the problem then...

You need to force the WAN IP address in the WA Configuration page, and tick the "Force IP address" box.

If you forward those ports and force the IP address, it _should_ work.

I am not sure what to do from here sorry, short of double checking you have everything configured properly.

Can you play games at all (where you are not the host)?

yeah, I can host a WAN game of quake or half life / counterstrike if I forward the right ports. I do so often infact.

what is the real way to forward ports. i have tried to use linksys' setup page but i don't think that's the right way (even though i fixed it).

i forwared on those ports using the router set up pages on mine too and it didnt work.. when it says internet / local, which do you use? or both?

I believe there are some issues with the Linksys Routers and WA/WWP, for which the solve is to download the latest IOS and upload it onto the router...

You should just open up those ports to allow data to flow through both inbound and outbound (the 17010-17012 ones anyway).

Udate your firmware and access your router. Onece tere go to ADVANCED and then DMZ HOST. Then u are in DMZ HOST Type in yout IP address and u CAN HOST!!!!

i call it the phantom lagger!!! but getting to the point wenever i go into a server on wormnet2 then i click on host and type my user and passy my flamin computer crashes!!!

Why post a crash in this thread (again)? The router is almost certainly unrelated. I'd do a scan for spyware if I were you, possibly even re-install windows.

ye i probably will hve to reinstall windows (for the forth time!!!!!) but before i do that i must scan for spyware.

Re-formatting would give you a nice clean, hopefully bug free installation to use. But it is the extreme solution to the problem.

there is hardly any point in reinstalling windows if you don't format your C: drive, if anything you should create at least 2 partitions and have 1 for games and stuff and the other just for programs and windows. (if you never want your swap file to get fragmented then i recommend putting it on a 3rd small [5 gig?] partition that is devoted to just the swap file)

i hve recently found out that its cos my computers crap!!! and it just cant allow me host succesfully. and this computer origannaly had win 98 then 2000 and now xp. so my computers proccesser cant take xp so wat shud i get:
windows 2000 or windows 98

if u hve any objections plz post them in...

so i agree with mr bunsy. although it is a gud idea to format my c drive into 2 partitions.

i sent you a private message zacowako (click "private messages" at the top right corner), and the performance of your PC wont limit your hosting ability.

if you use win98 then you may need firefox and visit the windizupdate website (google it) to install all the windows updates for it since microsoft no longer offer the updates them self.

Whatever you do don't get 98. It's rubbish, it crashes, and it' apparently not secure enough to be safely taken online anymore. 2000 was quite good, and will support most games, as well as being pretty light on the specs.

And yeah, multiple partitions is a good idea. Makes it easier to back up your documents if they're on a separate area.

Personally I think 98 is much better at retro gaming than 2000. Even though it's a lot less stable, its DOS compatibility is a lot higher due to allowing games to directly interact with the hardware - that which 2000 and higher try to virtualize. And it's secure enough if you update it and use it from behind a router :)
