Well, supposing I were prohibited from using a Zero-based sigworm altogether... Hmm. Maybe something based on Gordon Freeman, although everybody would hate that. Maybe something like that sigworm-ized Hank from the Madness Combat series thing, which fewer people would hate. Or maybe -- MAYBE -- I'd choose not to rip anybody off and actually design something original with a little bit of effort to it.

I'll probably be thinking about it.

Well, when I frequently started visiting here (about a year ago, not 2003 when I signed up), my first sigworm was going to be entirely different. He'd have had a metal hand capable of firing electricity and some robotic eye thing. A box on his back powered these and you could see a wire trailing from it to his hand.

There was going to be some sort of revenge story, someone killed his son/friend/family and left him scarred, which explains the attachments. It probably would have looked something like this:

I decided against it because he was really generic and nobody would have cared. So in the end, I'm pleased to say, I went for a useless detective with a lemming assistant instead, largely because I was thinking about making a point-and-click adventure game at the time (that never got anywhere, although I'd still like to do it).

I'm not sure what I would have been. I probably wouldn't have the nuke goggles, because they're an artifact of the sigworm era and designing your characters based on WA sprites. I'd probably still have gone for the "amiable science guy with no hint whatsoever of a dark, mysterious past" option, though.

If I recall. My first sigworm, Worm Mad for me, it was a really simple one, just a worm with a green army hat on.
But then it kept changing. I then had a worm with a strange ass Zero-rip off hat on.
And then I decided, "Screw it, lets make him have a lemon on his head".

Just a biiiit of a thread revive, and it doesn't really have to do with sigworms, but it does have to do with usernames... kinda.
I thought it would be worth mentioning that from now on, my "anonymous blog comment" name is Von Torpedo, used whenever I want to keep my "Pigbuster" alter ego from... expressing opinions.

It's easier for me to say what I want if people don't know what my REAL NAME WIDELY-USED NICKNAME is. :p

Also, I chose Von Torpedo just because I like adding "Von" to the beginning of names. It means "Of torpedo"!

Obviously the thing's history would not relate to my current sigworm. It would probably just be the result of a Facehugger face raping a worm.

Oh, and for some reason (that I would never go into) it would not feel any attachment to any other members of its race and would be perfectly capable of blending in to worm society and engage in everyday conversation.
After the blood has been cleaned up of course.

my sigworm actually evolved - he used to be a really dumb generic sci-fi character with an equally dumb and generic backstory

If I were registering today I'd be using my real name instead of my S2K handle, so any Sigworm I might have would just be... well, a ginger-haired worm, probably.
