I am preloading Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Portal. I can hardly wait to play them tomorrow, it's gonna be Awesome!
And last night me and a friend played Team Fortress 2 for a while. That game is crazy! It's about 500% faster paced than I thought it would be, and I lol'ed out loud many a times while playing it. I love their attention to detail.. like one time when I got blown up there was a arrow pointing to a red blob where I died and it said "Your liver" ;D

http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/3492/apacheislookinggoodmz1.th.jpg (http://img230.imageshack.us/my.php?image=apacheislookinggoodmz1.jpg)

Who else is getting it? I also need to find somebody to gift my previous copy of Half-Life 2 too. Anybody feel they deserve it? Here's your chance ;)

Yeah, so what about us people who already bought HL2 and Ep1? It's unfair. Why should we have to pay for them again just to be able to play TF2 before anyone else? Why can't we have access to the beta too? I don't mind paying for TF2 now before it's released to get the chance. No, we have to spend more money on the Orange Box.

Well, yes, and I was originally going to hold back until the so called black box appeared (I'd bought the whole HL series only a few months ago) for the same reason, but then I played TF2 round a mate's.

I more or less decided that only £26 isn't exactly a rip off for 3 decent games. Certainly not compared with the average Xbox game these days.

Two of which you already own.you get extra copies, they don't go to waste, so you end up having a free copy to gift a friend of your choice.

also, Team Fortress 2 is EASILY worth $50 by itsself. it's a fully developed multiplayer game. the way I see it, I'm paying $20 for it. I'm paying another $20 for Episode 2, just like I did for episode 1. and then I'm getting Portals for $10. Ep 1 and HL2 are free gifts added with it for me to give someone else.

That wasn't the bit where there was a tube above your head was it? In which case you got the rocket thingy to shoot at you, and use a portal to get the rocket to break the tube, from which a cube will helpfully fall out and you can stand on it.

I found it surprisingly easy actually, once you get your head into the warped techniques you need, it all slots into place. Jumping great distances whilst creating portals where you land is brilliant fun.

The net result is, I now have HL2 for free. And chances are, given how awesome The Orange Box appears to be, I'll probably be gifting my copy on some time in the future if my compy can run TF2.

Look for servers running custom maps. Though they aren't of very high quality yet.

The default maps to me seem to be the perfect size. Any larger and they'd be an unwieldy mess (and require far more spawn points). Any smaller and the games would end too quickly.

...

Bushes?you'd be surprised at how much something simple like bushes can affect a game. I spent 10 minutes being pinned down by a tank without him knowing it because of the bushes. walking around, you have a TON of cover because of the lush vegitation. you can be in the middle of a fire fight, pop stealth and jump into a bush and be completely unseen. makes for an awesome sneaking around experience in the game.

Good: CrossOver can apparently run the Orange Box.
Bad: I really don't want to have to run Steam in the background. Seriously. Any workaround that doesn't require Windows-specific coding etc. would be nice.
Also Bad: Half-Life 2 doesn't work very well with a tablet mouse, so I assume if I bought TF2 I would be the guy who'd spin around like a drunk and couldn't shoot a barn door. :(

I guess I could get another mouse, but I would have to find one with a cloth bottom, because my Wacom mouse has spoiled me in that regard.

With the wacom you use a cloth-surfaced mouse on a plastic "mousepad".
With a regular mouse you have a plastic-surfaced mouse on a cloth mousepad.
