View Full Version : Worm Form (Or how you call it)

So, first post. Finally... I'm rather shy and get embarrased.
So anyhow, I wanted to ask how my Worms style is. I mean if it's okay or
it needs some improvement? I can take critics. Now, this is only my form I drawed in PS. Sorry for shaky lines, I use a mouse.

And I'm a girl, but I don't wanna use those eyelashs female characters have.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, third time drawing Worms in the computer.
In the forehead, it's a band-aid and a handkerchief in the neck.

It's simple and nice, the square fingers are odd, but might pass of as a style.
Also, are those band-aids or a flower in the forehead?

Band-aids, should have stated it in the first post... ^^''

Looks cool, has potential, wanna have babies, blah bla... :p

Nah, seriously now: it looks good, if you draw some more I'm sure you'll improve on your own.

I am also madly in love with you.

Well, we don't get a lot of girls around here. There's only two others at the moment, and I'm going out with one of them (Kelster). :D
Also, what age are you?

Pretty damn nice, but two things:
1: Why is the centre of the bandaids the same colour as the skin of the worm?
2: Try draw a worm without any accessories. I say this because the bandana covers up the bottom of the mouth, and I'd like to see how you really draw that.

Looks cool, has potential, wanna have babies, blah bla... :p

Too bad: she lives in Portugal. Cosmico will kidnap her before you can.

Did I say kidnap? I meant date. ....yes.

I'm 15-years-old. D:
At first I didn't understood the "baby" thing of Cisken1 but then I saw his siggy. XD

And the other two questions:

1: Because I'm dumb.
2: I'll do pretty soon, I ain't much of a good expression maker but I'll try.
So I get some crits.

And:

PEDOPHILES?!

PEDOPHILES?!

You'll get used to that, I usually use it to scare away girls...doesn't work...so there you go, have a burrito.

Pretty nice. The mouth is a little odd and so are the fingers, but overall I like it. A little practice will go a long way.

No problem with the shaky lines, I like them, they may be part of your style. The eyes, shape, shades are ok, I can't really find something you could improve for now (maybe the fingers can be a little longer, but I like their square shape).
Here we call "forms" "sigworms", just so you know. :)

Yes, don't always take very seriously what some people say here. :p

I may post new stuff in here so I don't spam the Fanart Section.
And I actually change styles a lot but I'll try to keep this one.
And hands are a little hard for me, it may take a while to practice on those things. xD

Oh, that's a relief! For a while there, I thought you made this thread with the sole intention of posting the one and only piece of worms fanart you'll ever make! Man, am I glad! :D
(Seriously, you'll be suprised by the amount of times that happened)

And hands are a little hard for me, it may take a while to practice on those things. xD
Yeah, they always are.
Err...
Can't really think of any good example artists for hands though.

And may I ask how old are you?

Cisken doesn't have an age. Only a purpose.

You don't want to know what that purpose is.

Great man, the style is quite good especially the element of shortness

I actually thought it was a little too short, I'm glad it's fine. xD

Yarrr, yaaaarrrrr, that be fine art me says, the worms be a little short... yarrrr. They be taller me says! But you should figure that out yourself, yarrr...

Now where's me rum... ?

Mayla
26 Sep 2007, 22:33
Well, I've done another pic. This time showing facial expressions well.
I hate that prod, poking us so much, it's worse than 10 dynamites surrounding me. Poke poke poke. :p

I think the right worm looks... a little weird...

EDIT: Btw, I don't have a caption for this, maybe someone could unveil what they are saying? :]

MtlAngelus
26 Sep 2007, 23:17
They both look weird, they look like cyclops.
I would illustrate how side-looking worms should look, but I'm posting from my sisters laptop and it has one of those crappy touchpad mouses that cannot be used to draw.

Not a bad start. I've seen a lot worse. Heads are a bit big, hands and tails a bit small, but they've got a bit of character about them.

You should show a hint of the white from the second eye so it doesn't look like they are cyclopses. (Cyclopsi...cyclopsei...whatever)

Here you go. 45(sort of) degree angle worm and sideview worm.
Here's another example: >CLICKIE!< (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showpost.php?p=578082&postcount=46), in a totally different style.

Great to see another female artist around here!
Anything I have to say everyone else has already said ah ha.
But I do hope you stick around.

But as for the picture of the two worms from the side, Try making the eyes a little bit thinner and more towards the side of the head that the mouth is on.
Hands are one of those things that just need years of practice, Honestly. But 3 fingers is a lot easier than 4, I can tell you that much.
The style is cute too.

I think they look a little short, but I guess it makes them more unique. Also, on the side view, try moving the eyes towards the center of the head more. Nice art.

The best way to go is to use your own hands as reference. It does help a lot.
Particularly if you're morbidly obese and your fingers resemble the cartoony worms fingers. :p

The downside id that you'll have a hard time using a pencil or the mouse itself... Not to mention that she wouldn't be able to type anything properly.

welcome to this forum, and please dont mind cisken's words.

an example of cisken's post you should ignore:

A tip to draw cute hands (for cute worms):

Done some sketchs, bleh.
Suzette and Stavros, dunno why, there's something in them to draw.
Before I even knew about Suzette, I made a similar looking character in my comics (wish I could show them but I don't have a scanner).
Stavros... He looks like he has to go to a anger management room. Dunno.
I always imagine him screaming his name and rampaging and destroying everything by his sight. And that weird form, is me, don't ask.

Yes, I was wondering why you had a Koopa to represent you for regular drawings, but then went with an unfamiliar character for your sigworm.

I actually have three forms. It's kind of weird when you think about it...
This is my Koopa form (oh so original... not), my sigworm in the first page
and another form I use to show myself in another forum talking of a show...
I lost interest on the show but I still like it, and I use that form many times as well.

Try to stick with either 2nd generation or 3rd generation. Splicing is a recipe for trouble.

Doesn't really help when my hands are long and spidery.
But you could also get a hand maniquin.

It's only to get the sense of where each finger should be, then you just "translate" that into more cartoony hands. It's not that hard.

one veryy important tip: NEVER SAVE IMAGES MADE IN PAINT AS A JPEG. use png.

I actually saved it as PNG. I never use JPG.
I think it's the attachment thing that made it JPG.

Gosh, so many days has passed, I really should think of something to draw,
now that I finished a giftart for someone in DA. (That made me almost collapse).

And about the hand tips, I'll try to check more my brother's hands. :D
