Hi, I'm new here, so I don't know if somebody made a thread like this already. I live in the US, and Worms 4 Mayhem for the PS2 is only sold in Europe. I was just wondering if Team17 was planning on releasing Worms 4 for the PS2 in the US, and, if not, would the European version work on my PS2?

Sadly, as the game is now two years old, it's unlikely that it will see a PS2 release in the US.The European version doesn't work natively on US consoles, however there is a "boot disc" called MagicKey that can be purchased which lets games with different region-encoding run on American systems. You'd have to be using the right sort of video cable for your PS2 (usually a composite cable will suffice), and you'll need a TV which can handle a 50Hz television signal.

Great. I found a PS2 PAL-NTSC video converter on the web, and I'm not sure if that fixes the problem for the PS2, the TV, or both.

Well the TV, certainly - it only converts video. Now all you have to do is circumvent the regional encoding, which can be done using a boot disc program called MagicKey. Aletrnatively, buy a PAL PS2! That's what I'm going to have to do if I want to continue playing Silent Hill 2...

This supposedly boots a PAL game as an NTSC one, so I don't need video cables or a boot disc. Do you think this will work?

Well it comes with the Boot Disc. Do you have the slim model PS2? If so I'd recommend going for [this one (http://www.modchipstore.com/Slim-Tool-Swap-Magic-3-Combo-V12-PS2-slim-console-16261.html)].

At this point I now feel obliged to mention that such region circumvention techniques may, in fact, be illegal depending on what country your in. AFAIK, this technique is not illegal in the UK (where Team17 are based) as it doesn't require any actual modification of the console. However check local law before buying any of these items.

I said twice I was in the USA. I'm fine.

And I don't need the other part of the packge. with the cost of the game and the boot disc, I'm already spending over $50.

I do have the slim model, and I was going to use an attachment, but this looks simpler and less expensive, thank you!

So just to make sure, this does convert completely to NTSC so I don't need to have a video cable, right?

Edited: Darn it, it's out of stock.

...Which is not only illegal, but would also prevent him from runnign his US games. Well done!

Never mind, I'll get the PC version. I'll find a way to make it run on my Vista for sure, seeing how many topics on that there are. The PS2, Xbox, and PC versions are all pretty much the same though, right? My friend claims his PC version doesn't have the weapons factory, which is probably why I want the game the most. Does the PC version have the weapons factory or no?

The PC version does feature the Weapons Factory. Maybe he just doesn't know where it is.

Also, experiences with Vista are mixed. I haven't had any problems at all.

He probably doesn't know where it is. He never reads help manuals.

Anyway, thanks for all of your help. I'm definitely getting the PC version.
