We join you with our story already in progress.

In one small corner of the battlefield, Paul.Power is pinned down by heavy gunfire. Can he use his renowned brain to think a way out of this one?

Meanwhile...

Meanwhile...

After taking a few moments calculating the trajectory Paul lights his last bottle of Inflammable Johnson's Baby Lotion, and lets it fly.

I'd do one, but for some reason I am horrible at drawing eyes right now.

SomePerson
13 Sep 2007, 08:29
On the opposing team, SomePerson sees a mysterious object flying toward him, so he diverts his fire from Paul in an attempt to shoot it out of the sky with his one good eye.

(Black and white because I drew it in Windows Journal, and then copied and pasted it into Paint. I don't quite have a graphics program capable of filling in with Journal's anti-aliased vector graphics, and Journal itself has no fill tool. I got far filling it in with the pen tool, but it was too much vector information for my machine to take and it crashed...:p)

The mysterious object was...

a quarter pounder with cheese!

"My quarter pounder with cheese ploy worked perfectly," thinks Zero, taking advantage of this momentary distraction to skim a grenade towards SomePerson from the cover of a big orange block completely seperate from Paul's.

Edit: Hmm, I forgot about Paul's baby lotion. It's probably still airborne, I guess.

Zero, suddenly flexing an ingenuity muscle normally reserved for such activities as Half-Life and Nethack, opts to remove a piece of the satellite's solar panel and add it to his naturally bottomless inventory. Something like this could become handy in a number of ways.

So I decided to draw them all goofy-like.

can't say that I get that joke :-/

Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity".

Which is of course what Vader et al have done with my knocking-down-the-International-Space-Station thingy.

By observing that they shouldn't have done that, I'm employing Hanlon's razor.

Which, seen as I'm in a Mega Man game, reifys it as a weapon.

Hanlon's Razor, being a razor, will have similar properties to the Rolling Cutter (Cut Man's weapon, by the way) once reified. As a result, it can take down the evil spiky crawly things.

As the Rolling Cutter is also Elec Man's weakness (and a severe one at that), he has every right to be saying "oh, bugger".

I'll concede it's a rather complex joke.

EDIT: Panel chronology, to make it clear:

Panel 1: The present.
Panel 2: Flashback to somewhere between my TELPROT and Angelus opening that door.
Panel 3: Also flashback
Panel 4: The present again.

Bloody hell Paul, talk about complicated. Couldn't you have just used some slapstick?

I would continue this story, but as I've never played MegaMan, I don't think I can at the moment.

I would continue this story, but as I've never played MegaMan, I don't think I can at the moment. The only time I do slapstick is when I can't think of anything subtler.

You don't have to continue from here. Go back and see what Vader, Zeor, SP, Angelus and yourself are up to.

Less subtle, more brief is what I'd recommend. And never explain your jokes.

I've still got to design myself a sig-worm and put old Voldo to rest. I like your idea of an electronics expert, Paul, but I don't want to place too much emphasis on my work.

OD -- Where no joke is safe.

"why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side!"

"I don't get it."

"It's funny because it shows the excursion of, one chicken crossing the road. Perhaps it a busy road and the chicken had to cross it because there was something on the other side. Like a farmer. Other reasons why chickens may actually come to terms and cross a road isn't very well known. So one can presume any reason, and motive for the chicken to cross over to the other side of the road. This can lead one to think about different scenarios a chicken might have to want or motivate a chicken, out of all creatures, to cross a road. So really its an open ended joke that can lead to HOURS upon HOURS of amusement for a single person alone, or that of a whole family. NOW THAT I'VE EXPLAINED EVERY DETAIL POSSIBLE ABOUT THE JOKE, AND REVEALED WHY IT SHOULD BE FUNNY. LAUGH."

"ok"

I'm not picking on you Paul. I've seen this A LOT by other people too.
