View Full Version : How Could They Ruin Ranked Matches So Badly?

First Off, Let me say that Open Warfare 2 is fantastic. However, what's with getting unlimited Holy hand grenades and other super weapons online? It totally ruins any type of skill involved. Who's going to use a shotgun when you can send a flying sheep to their face? The Xbox 360 got it right when it came to online matches, I'm just so dissapointed in having so many cheap weapons available. :(

I agree with you completely on this, although there are ways to combat it.

Ranked matches should have gave everyone an equal change to earn points in a skillful way by restricting them to certain schemes specifically made for ranked games. Sadly, the ranked matches are designed in a way that you can use your own customized scheme. Nevertheless, you will still find matches against people who use great balanced schemes.

So whose scheme does it use when joining a game?

Well, unless you are talking about the DS version (which I know nothing about), whatever scheme the host has picked is the one used for the entire game.

Oh, it is the DS version:(

The DS version uses a random scheme in ranked games. The PSP version allows the host to choose the scheme in "Play for points". The default PSP schemes aren't that great for online play but at least it lets you use a custom scheme.

(on the DS) the only matches that are really bad are Total Wormage and the one w/ blowtorches only (I don't know what it's called...) IMHO.

ARGH! (DS VERSION)

Just got the stupid blowtorch ranked match, GOD I hate that setup.

There is no skill at all, its just luck as to who's turn it is when the crates drop, and who can jetpack/teleport to get the random (usually super) weapon. stupid donkey.

Can we PLEASE have more fair configs than this?? I love the guns only, the combinations of bazooka and grenades (the 2 most skill testing weapons IMHO) and even total wormage is *OK* although I would like to see the super weapons on a really long clock.

The people you see online now are the biggest worms fans, you have made a FREAKEN awesome game, now please just go that last 1% and tweak the ranked matched to provide some really interesting and skill intensive games!

Hint: Bazooka, grenades, movement tools + a few other controlled weapons (1 x homing missle kinda thing....)

thanks!

making the game skill intensive will result in more people quitting when they lose thus no progress would ever be made oO.

I'm more likely to quit a Total Wormage game than anything else, actually. Why bother playing a match for about 30 minutes if it's all down to luck?

Well, no progress can be made now, when it comes to things like five wins in a row. That's almost impossible.

And hey, I asked this in another thread, but is it possible to get medals from modes other than ranked? I can't seem to get any in random match mode.

HOW???

(Well, okay, I guess you might conceivably if it was a cavern map. Just. If everyone kept missing somehow)

Every WA league in the history of the series begs to differ.

Schemes involving the least "luck" have always been the most popular. In contemporary WormNet1 that would be Elite and Rope Race.
