I'm trying to play a ranked match. Every time I get matched up, my opponent disconnects/surrenders (I can't tell which). and my rank drops. Last time this happened my rank dropped 20 places. Just because my opponent disconnected on me. How is that fair? I know it's not me disconnecting because it stays the same in my statistics.

It's the same case if I'm on the third game of a match. He decides he's going to lose, disconnects, and my rank goes down again.

Is there something I am missing? Is this intended to happen? If not can it be fixed?

i think ur rank drop cos the statistics are being updated every few minutes and other ppl are getting wins as well so thats y u drop ranks. but dont worry u can go back up by getting another win.

Moiz575 is right: you may have dropped ranks simply because others have gained more points.

Also, as the game is new, all the ranks are very close in points, so a small difference in points can make a very large difference in rank (e.g., 20 people on 40 points, if you've got 39 points, an increase of 2 will push you up by 20 ranks).

Finally, you may have disconnected from your opponent...or something inbetween. It's really not possible to tell.

I don't discount any of your ideas, they are possibilities I have considered. I've kept closer watch on my stats recently and I'm still concerned.

My rank tends to stay steady in between playing (I check when I leave and when I enter).

My rank consistently falls after an opponent drops, regardless of the state of the game. I lose at least one place, sometimes twenty or more.

So I would just like to ask if anyone else has noticed or could look out for similar behavior.

Does the pink arrow pointing down next to my name (in Wi-Fi) mean I'm falling ranks? I ask because its always there :D and I'm never going up even though I win matches.

Ranking is a nice thing, but there will always be these 'unfair' situations. Plus you will always be outdone by the many, many players who play hours on end.

Its best to enjoy online play for being able to play against a real human being. Of course, again, many are those who play all the time as well, and can beat most casual players.

I personally feel that there are two chinks in the ranking system:
1) The many players who don't know there's any penalty for dropping out.
2) People who don't care about ranking.

It doesn't matter that in spite of these people, serious players will rise above. The problem is that it ruins online play when two out of three games don't end, as has been my experience so far.
