So I got a copy of the game earlier from a friend and I'm surprised. The game is really nice.At first there is an FMV video,a bit low resolution, which shows pretty much everything we have seen in the trailers. But it is cool :P
Then the game asks us if we want to edit our team and if we need to learn how to use the rope(obviously it's for starters :P).The we go to the main menu:

Quick Game(You play with random teams landscapes and pretty much everything:P)

Custom Game(Select teams,game mode,weapons,landscapes everything)

Single Player(The good part ;) will explain later)

Multiplayer (It has Single Card Play for download and play,Multi card play for local multiplayer and Nintendo WFC for Internet Play)

Customize(Manage Teams,Edit Landscapes,Flags and schemes)

Shop(Ah the shop! Here you buy stuff with the money you've earned from the missions)

Options(A few game options)

Now the single player section! There is this puzzle mode in which you must complete many tricky little missions!

Then there is the campaing. The are not many campaings eg. World War 1 campaing, you just go from mission to mission and eg. after a number of missions you go to the next scheme eg World War 1 then WW2...
Every time you pass a scheme you see a video it reminded me the good ol' Worms for the PC back in 95'.Anyway let's continue.

Then there is laboratory there three kinds of experiments:

Blow
Blast
Draw

I'll leave that so you discover it on your own ;)

Finally there is the Training mode with tutorials.

The game has no bugs like the previous one I've even tried to go straight next to the oil tanks and no it didn't stuck in there. No glitches yet and the game is just SO cool. Many weapons, fun and WORMS,just like it should have been. Two Tribes thank you for this great handheld Worms game. It's just amazing!clap clap...

Two Tribes/Team17 did a great job on the DS version, it's a really fun game with loads of options. It should keep worms fan entertained for a long time.

One strange thing, the ranked deathmatch schemes seem to be totally random. It does make for some variety but I like some consistency in ranked games, even rotating schemes would be better than what seems like total random weird schemes. I've had a ranked deathmatch scheme where all we had was 2 blowtorches, unlimited rope, no weapons and you had to rely on crates to win the game (most often it was the player who got a donkey).

Good to see the DS version doesn't have the airstrike glitch like Worms XBLA. It also doesn't have the purely cosmetic mine fuse glitch that the PSP version has.

It's a shame the DS version has no chat feature of any kind (we already knew this but I still miss it). The PSP version has common messages like "Good luck", "Sorry, got to go" and you can edit these before you start a multiplayer game, so you could give out your MSN or other contact in that message.

I'd love to see this game on XBLA and PC.

Having just playing to the end of the Pirate campaigns, and tried the map editor and other thingies, I must say that this is one awesome game, Team17! Also, I love the FMVs and the wormsong remix, which was something that lacked in the first W:OW.

Now if only I still had my router for some online play...

Also: Vertical maps are awesome.

Got mine today.

First impressions:

Excellent.
Love the new weapons and the whole game seems a little more polished. The 'Waiting for other players" bug already seems less of a problem in Ad-Hoc games.
Puzzle mode is cool.

'Issues':
Fort mode already seems dull after only a couple of goes.
No Cockney voices. :(
Not too convinced about Rope Race - hopefully it will grow on me.

Ok, after a few ad-hoc games I'm afraid it is not good.

The wireless code for WOW2 simply sucks. There is a constant 1 - 2 sec delay between actions on each PSP. It really spoils the flow and enjoyment of ad-hoc multiplayer.

The cynic in me reckons they have inserted this delay as a quick fix for the "waiting for other players" hangs that plagued the original WOW.

There is a constant 1 - 2 sec delay between actions on each PSP.

That's how the networking in worms is done.

Essentially, we send the replay data across the network, to be replayed on the remote PSP. The delay is there because you can't rely on the network to be instant, some data may be lost and need resending. If the data is not ready to be replayed on the trailing PSP, then we're in schtuck.

It works that way on every platform. It's not noticeable when you play over the net, but perhaps a little more noticeable over local wifi because it's not an instant replay, so to speak.

I got the DS version today and I think it rocks!

For some reason my fingers keep reverting to Playstation (Not played Woms on PS in a few years!) controls, and I find myself pressing A to jump... :D Other than that, which is hardly a game issue, I found the controls very easy to pick up.

I liked the customization, with the ability to change the victory dance. Only played four games using WFC, but was pleased with the way they are set up. The two ranked matches I played, the scheme were random, but I though this added an interesting twist to the game, and I was forced to use weapons I'm not very good with, with hilarious results. Ever had a grenade bounce back at you? It's amazing how fast you can hit the jump key. (Or in my case, remember which one it is!)

As someone else mentioned, the Lab mode is great fun :D

I hadn't read much about the game, so the map editor was a nice suprise. I've had no trouble so far with the game in terms of bugs, but I've only played for a few hours.

Wormetti, on the first game I played using WFC, I was talking rubbish to my brother, who had the PC blaring away on full volume, and I suddenly remember ed that the mic may be used to communicate with your opponent. I spent the next 3 minutes apologising for the noise, and talking to my DS. Wish I'd known beforehand! Anyway, some guy on the leader boards has put his e-mail address as his name, so you could do that I suppose.

Sorry if my entire post seems odd, or "Why-the-hell-has-he-posted-that-when-we've-been-talking-about-it-for-the-last-three-months", I've not been on these forums since October 2005!

This game is really great fun!

I've only played through a few tutorials and a single cart multiplayer game, but I've enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to playing a few forumers online.

Cheers for the info. However, seems to me that this is the wrong way to do it. Plenty of other PSP games have far far more fluid ad-hoc multiplayer and it is a real shame that WOW2 is worse than WOW in this regard.

Loving the game overall but it is a shame about this poor implementation of ad-hoc mode.

Just my two penneth (to go along with my £29.99).

Worms network code just does very different things compared to how ad-hoc turn based games work (which I'd assumed send a very short list of controller codes).
