View Full Version : Petition to make Squirminator2K (or Bonz) a user mod

Recently Ben seems to be like an angry mob from the Simpsons led by a disgruntled Moe Szyslak.
The only problem is, he's lacking the proper tools (forks, torches,...) to effectively apply lynch law.

So I hereby petition to make Squirminator2K a user mod.
If he doesn't want to, I volunteer for the crusade against stupidity.
(After all, Deadcode once wanted to recommend me for that.)

Edit:
All this of course is a counteraction to Ben's recent threat of leaving the forum for good.

Approval for either/both. :p

Why do I have a sudden urge to tick the lowest box :p

To be honest, we're not overworked here, so it might be hard justifying another mod to volcadmin.

The moderators job isn't too keep stupid people from posting. I'm not sure how we'd benifit from another mod.

I kind of agree with Xinos. Sadly, we don't have a rule where we can ban idiots, mainly because one person's idea of an idiot could be totally different to a second person's idea of an idiot, so in that respect, a third mod wouldn't really be of much use.

I don't think either Ben or Bonz would do a bad job as mod. I don't think it's needed and I don't think it'd do any harm either. I don't really care who's moderating as long as someone is.

Though I think Ben probably ought to go and have a lie down before anyone gives him mod powers...

i checked the first three boxes

Hmm...

It would look good on my CV... :p

Although I cause a fair percentage of forum anarchy. Doubt I could really UM.

a third mod
A fourth mod.
AFAIK, Nutter still has modding powers, so you two are only #2 and #3.

Edit:
"Moderator" even as opposed to "User Mod".

Baggsy number two.

I think Nutter's moderating powers are limited to one subforum now or something. :p

And even if the existing mods aren't so overworked, I really don't think another one or two would hurt.

thomasp

Nutter has more powers than me & AT. That's why Nutter's username is in bold, and the usermods aren't.

Also, don't forget the CyberShadow is a mod in the WA-related forums.

As is Deadcode, I think.

I might as well offer, even though I doubt you'd want my help. But I could always just mod the Fan Art forum. Kinda like how CyberShadow is a mod in the W:A forums. It's the only place I really even go besides OD. :p
Heck, even if I'm not even considered a 'mod', at least the power to maybe lock threads, or just be able to delete spam would be sufficient enough for me. To be honest the Fan Art forum is probably the worst spam pit on this whole forum, right next to OO. Yet seems to also be the most neglected up until a little bit ago.

...just throwing it out there.

Yeah, that one definitely gets my vote.

I think this is a good idea because Slick pays a great deal of attention to Fan Art, but he did say he would be leaving soon. So I don't know, I vote for him to have the job if he is willing to accept it.

I should be upgraded to an Admin.

Because I'm awesome.

Slick

But of course I'd accept the job.
The only question is will this actually happen?

I think after last night it might help a little to have another user mod, if only for emergencies. In the long run it might also help calm the place down a bit. I'd be up for it. Andrew and Tom would love that ;)

Actually, there wasn't much modding to do, as one of the spammers kindly deleted all their posts for us.

Trouble is, that happened in the middle of England's night, so it would probably have to be someone either in Australia or America (which I realise is Ben). And even then it'd be hard to get "24 hour" coverage. I visit a forum which has about 25 mods from around the world, and there are still times in the day when no mods are online

Having a mod based in America or Canada makes a lot of sense, and there are a lot of very good candidates over here who could do good jobs.

I have a completely messed-up sleeping schedule. Does that help? ;)

So does SupSuper, although I think we can all agree he is the last person we want moderating the forum :P

Me too - being online to reply at 5AM to say the mods were offline. But that's only when I have nothing to do and I have to sleep at regular times when at uni.

Sometimes I think that if I didn't work, I'd be up and about at night and asleep in the day.

I was very nearly doing that when I was in the UK, floating about between jobs. It just felt like I got more done at night. The bulk of the first two issues of Jump Leads were written at Stupid O' Clock in the morning.

So does SupSuper, although I think we can all agree he is the last person we want moderating the forum :PSeconded!

I'm too tolerant to mod anyways. I've become a mod on a forum out of doing jack squat, and I still do jack squat aside from deleting the occasional reported post and closing/opening threads for the heck of it.

And yes if I'm on holidays I will pretty much stay up to 6-8am out of boredom, only to wake up for breakfast a few hours later.

I'm resurrecting this thread not because of a desire to become a Moderator, but because I've been made a Moderator on another forum elsewhere on the Web, and to announce my Mod-dom I have prepared this image:

Have fun finding out all the post reports filling up your message box have already been dealt with while the rest didn't make it through.
