View Full Version : Robowurmz Art Blitz

My previous attempts at art have been disastrous and horrendous. This time, I am doing a full scale BLITZ of my art, and this time I am going to spend more time drawing my art, instead of trying a little 2-minute job as usual. So, I begin with showing you the line art of something which I am working on...it is a picture of yours truly...
Should be ready in a couple of days, this is just the start of it.

It's good but lose the shadow, it messes thing enitre picture up!

Thanks for the tips. Also, I've now changed what Robowurmz looks like. I want him to be a bit more robotic, so now the E-10F series BattleBot has metal plates along the tail, two plates on the head, normal eyes, and the ability to get different mods.

Oh, and metal hands.
Here's a piccy on my deviant;

Yes, the tail is far too big.

Sweet style though! Very cool. I once drew similair to that.

That's a very familiar shape...

Oh, of course! A skutter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skutter#The_Skutters)! That's what it reminds me of!

He looks bottom heavy.

Well, that's good; it means he won't fall over. Good solid robot design principle, bottom heavyness. ;)

That said, the tail is too big, I think. The one on wheels looks about right for T17's style; if you want a big tail for design reasons or for keeping batteries in or something, then you might want to try something between the two. Or, you might not.

A regular worm!

Nice mouth.

But um... work on making the outlines more 'solid', rather than....well, that. :p

Yes, scanning pencilwork and then slamming the contrast to full tends to do that.

Looks good so far, but try to make it more interesting by adding your own special touch.

Long time, no art from me! But here we are, with some new art! Just a few sketches, put together into an image. Constructive Criticism is encouraged!

It's pretty good actually. You've got quite a different style to most people. It's kind of slumpish :p which doesn't really make any sense, but it's nice I like it

REQUESTS? maybe? :p

I'm not sure what the thing in the middle is next to the worm with no eyes...
And, the rock-ish stuff under the ground-plateau thing looks weird, try to draw thinner lines in the middle.
excuse my crap english in this post.

Skeleton worm = win.

Huzzah, you'r*I REQUEST!*

REQUESTS? maybe? :p
Note that that was just a query, and not an actual request. Therefore, my request is in fact the first request and should be done first. Not SuperFrea's one, which does not exist.

Not so fast tit beast! Mine was not a query. It was a full fat requestage, depending on whether or not he is taking requests in the first place. Therefore technically I am first in line. HA!

robowurmz
14 May 2008, 20:15
Well! I'm glad to see such a welcome reception!

As a side note, the thing next to the worm with no eyes is a weapon of sorts. Unfortunately, I didn't draw any worm WITH it.

Well, I may do requests. As for who requested first, well, we'll see.

Glad you liked the skeleton worm, he's one of my favourites too.

*requests*

Its pretty good. As super_frea said, it does look a little slumpish, and i don't like the tails much either. Perhaps a little curved?

EDIT: You don't have to go ahead and do this, this is just a suggestion.

But here's what it would look like if tails were curved. Try and find the one that i edited.

Not really... I think it might look a bit off because of its length (a bit shorter would be perfect), not the curve.

Are we going to see these with color?

robowurmz
15 May 2008, 09:37
Very probably! I've got a nice lineup for Plasma and SFrea, and it'll be in colour.

Also; Shadowmoon, you're hardly in a position to be an art critic, to be brutally honest. You put creases in the worm's tails AFTER the bend.

I don't anymore.

Well yeah seen as though i still need to practice too which i am doing with good results so far i guess you shouldn't listen to whatever i say unless someone else says it too.

So i'll just sit back and wait for my requests and wait for more pictures.;)

Oh, yes i am, its just that i'm not the best at it at the mo.

I gave some advice to someone in another forum and it improved the picture, so i'd say i am.

I REQUEST!:)

And, I guess you should make the tail a little shorter. And you could fix the lips a little.:D
And so here's my example:

I request a picture of me throwing a wrench.
because I said so.

: P

Nice work, the tails on some of them just look... deflated.

Yeah, that's pretty much the ideal length. At least it fits nicely. However, your style isn't too bad with long tails, so it's kinda up to you.

15 May 2008, 15:37
Zoip! I'm going to add more polish later (shadows, shading, and whatnot) because at the moment I'm a little rushed.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s258/Robowurmz/SfreaPlasmaTeddy.png

Egads, some details are hard to make out. Bigger version will be forthcoming.

Just in case you didn't notice, Plasma's shapechanging hand is a crane at the moment. Lifting Sfrea.

Yeah, I got confuzzled about the colour. That'll be changed when the polish goes on and the image gets bigger.

Hah! I didn't draw it with a mouse. It was with a graphics tablet. How the hell would you be able to tell anyway?

When the bigger and polished version comes, you'll be able to read the text since I won't be leaving the image all tiny.

Also, the past participle of draw is "drew". NOT "drawed".

Got to wonder why the worms and the text are so cramped in when there's so much EMPTY SPACE

The empty space represents both the lack of art in this thread and the lack of an author-made excuse as to why there's so much empty space.

robowurmz
18 May 2008, 09:13
The reason behind crampedness? I was zoomed in on flash and didn't take measurements. Also, zoomed in TOO much. Hence smallness.

Wait... I thought it was "drawn"?

Also, may I request? :p

Plasma
18 May 2008, 11:37
Wait... I thought it was "drawn"?
'Drew' is the simple past, and would be the past tense of 'to draw'. -Eg: "He drew a picture."
'Drawn' is the past participle, and would be the past tense of... actually, I can't think of a present tense equivilent. -Eg: "That picture was drawn."
So yes, Robowurmz is right, Shadowman should've said 'drew'.

Look at it and listen to Weird Al Yankovic's "Dare to Be Stupid". It seems to suddenly make some sense.

As to what it actually IS, it's 2-second-with-my-eyes-shut drawings of Worms in flash, animated into a looping gif. :D
