Now you mean after you installed the game, right? On my PC, after a while the launcher stopped appearing when I inserted the CD, but I just had to press the icon to start the launcher myself.

And no, to be honest the servers aren't that full. There aren't nearly as many people as it used to be, and the few ones that are there aren't really much of a challenge if you've played before.

The amount of people depends very much on what time you go on. Sometimes there's only a few, whereas others there's at least 30+.
