It depends on what you want most of all;

Minigames, Custom Flags, Colour Of Worms Changeable
Terrain Editor easier to use: DS Version

Hats, Better Graphics, Better Looking Rope: PSP

They BOTH have the ability to customise the victory dance.

Flags will be a bit harder to draw with the PSP, though, so you'd probably only get a selection of premade ones. The DS , I'm sure, allows you to draw your own.

I am disappointed about the lack of hats on the DS version, though DS would probably be my choice, just because of its longer battery lifespan. Was there any news or developer blog of why hats are not on the DS version?

I think Spadge reasoned in a topic a few months back that they simply looked like garbage given the DS screen resolution, so they decided not to include them.

However...I've been thinking if they looked rubbish small, why not have just made them giant Comedy hats. Giant hats on small heads is funny.

I'd get the DS version... as the DS has more battery life, and more screen area (albeit oriented differently)...

And the stylus features will be nifty (like the puzzles, drawing, etc).

I suggest DS, as the online leaderboards will let us know how good you are. Plus if you know other people that have DS's. I work in a call center so during and between calls we play games, I know of 150 people with DS's out of 700 so im in heaven. Team 17 you are wireless gods with the DS.

Personally i'm getting the DS version because of the following:

It has touch screen
I don't own a PSP
Mini-games
battery lifespan
Dual screens (thats what DS stands for)
Did I mention touch screens

Is anything else on the list relevent in the light of that?

I'm getting PSP version because I do not have a DS. I don't have a DS because I do not know anyone else who owns one and they've always seems a bit toy-like for my taste. Besides a good portion of my friends and colleagues own a PSP which is great for ad-hoc gaming.

Not that it matters of course as it looks like this time round the DS version will be able to hold its own.

Yeah the DS seems a little more toy-ish doesn't it. technicly the PSP is more advance because of enternet and music capabillity (although i'd rather use my i-pod). I think I've herd a rumor about nintindo making an even better portable system

but you can get a MP3 Player and a web browser for the DS... IMO this is better, as there's more room for the two screens, and I wouldn't use them anyways, I'd use my iPod...

And besides, toy-ish???? They're both game systems at heart, so, seriously, aren't they both toys? I mean, is the PSP a PDA? Calendar? I mean, other than watching useless UMD videos on that tiny screen, there's not much there IMO. And besides, you can do much more with DS homebrew by way of the touch screen...

<insert needless coment below...>
Oh yeah, and the DS has better games too..

the PSP has Grand theft auto!!!!!! what are you saying!? And no The PSP has more features and better Graphics and Multiplayer. And whats the point of playing a 24-bit game on those Useless little cards. And also it's not a tiny little screen..... if the PSP has a tiny little screen then the DS has 2 Micro screens. and also you have to pay more money too play MP3s Videos and even the Web! and not only that, Lucas arts is making Star wars battlefront Renegade on this thing! and last the PSP has alot of games from the consoles. Trust me i have a PSP and a DS...... when i was going for my DS i looked and looked for good games........... the only good game is Metroid Prime hunters.

I'm not continuing this argument in the thread, at the risk of hijacking it. We can start another one or you can PM me.
But, in your response:

1. What features
2. Graphics do not make the game
3. Multiplayer, once again, why is it better?
4. Screens have roughly the same # of pixels total, but DS's total screen area is larger: 77 mm (3.01 in) X 2 vs. 4.2 in. X 1
5. MP3 player: I have an iPod, I'd never use it, therefore I pay less money for features that I do not want, Web browser, I may get it, but think about how much better the touch screen interface would be...
5a. Videos? On that little screen? pah. If I want to watch videos, I'll watch them on my phone's screen, w/ my 2 gb. memory card.
6. Good games: MP: H as noted, New super mario bros, Star Fox, Mario 64 x 4, Tony Hawk, Meteos, Zelda (to come), many many many puzzle games, Brain Age, Children of Mana, what's your genre?
6a. GTA? Pah. there's better games out there.
6b. Plus the hundreds of GBA Games that are backwards compatible (Metroid Zero mission/Fusion, Bomberman, More zelda games than you can shake a stick at)
7. Plus, the DS has the touch screen which has done more for FPS's than consoles have done in years, as well as about a million (well, maybe not a million, but you get the idea) innovative ideas to do w/ touch screen.......

Anyways, I'd love to continue this argument, but this thread would get hijacked if I were allowed to do so, so let's open up a thread somewhere else.

I really don't see why people care so much about the hats thing. It's old already.

As for the OP, last time, I would probably have said PSP, even though I personally don't have a PSP and have no intention of ever buying one.

This time, I would have to say to wait until both come out, and see what the buzz is around both versions. It's looking as though both versions are going to be really good, so go with the one that gets good reviews and good word of mouth regarding the features that are important to you, whether those are graphics, control, roping, whatever.

I'm sorry??? There is a lack of good games for the console that currently dominates the software charts in all regions? Have you played Mario Kart DS, Hotel Dusk, Warioware Touched, Another Code, Advance Wars, Nintendogs, Phoenix Wright, Puzzle Quest, Elite Beat Agents, Brain Training, Children of Mana, New Super Mario Bros, Animal Crossing, Metroid Pinball, Pokemon Anything, Trauma Center or any of the other superb titles currently available?
