I just installed WA and the beta update (newest version of course)

Everything was set, just when i saw the logo becoming full (loading screen)

I suddenly got an error...

Is there a way to fix this?

And i was able to choose my resolution 1920 x 1200 but i didnt see any difference ingame... :S

Thx in advance

EDIT:

W:A Beta Version: v3.6.28.0

CPU: Intel 3,2 ghz
Motherboard: MSI
System Memory: 1 gb ram
Video Card / Driver Revision: Nvidia xfxGeForce 7600GT - 162.15

Nature of the problem: exiting the game and poppung up with some error window just when its going to start the round.

Can you try running the game with WormKit (http://worms.thecybershadow.net/wormkit/) and this WormKit module (http://thecybershadow.net/dump/a3be030332e2b7cc1ce2c0f7a30a3fc4/wkCrashOnExit.zip)? Just unzip both ZIPs to your W:A folder and run WormKit.exe.

OK, thanks. Please tell us where did you buy your game CD from - it either doesn't seem to be in one of the formats this Beta update supports, or the game was not properly installed.

Somewhere in Holland, judging by your profile.

Does it seem like a legal copy? (Is the lable a proper one rather than a sticker, is the box a proper DVD or Jewel case etc etc.)

Try reinstalling the game, anyway.

It had both W:A and WWP on a CD (not DVD)?

Anyway, please do the following:
Click Start, select Run, and type:
dir /S W:\ > C:\filelist.txt
Substitute W with the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.
Then, upload the file filelist.txt which will be created in the root folder of your C: drive.

What has run got to do with this? And why would he be on his start menu?

:p

Sorry, couldn't resist ;)

There are 2 boxes (like original DVD boxes)

Each game has its own.

There are stickers on the back of the boxes.

wwp is mostly blue'ish coloured and WA is mostly red'ish coloured...

I dont have a digital camera, so i cant take a picture to actually proof its real.

@ cybershadow: windows cant find dir :S???

CyberShadow

You mean you get exactly this error?
Windows cannot find 'dir'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

Yes, but only in dutch language :D

CyberShadow

Oops, that's my bad. ("dir" is a CMD interpreter command and not an executable on its own.) The command you should run is:
cmd /C dir /S W:\ > C:\filelist.txt

I asked you to upload the file filelist.txt from the root folder of your C: drive.

We most likely won't be able to fix your problem immediately, but we might make the next Beta compatible with your CD.

Thanks. Your CD is unlike any I've met before, and has several oustanding differences from most other W:A CDs - first of all, your mission files from mission 10 to mission 17 are incorrect, and seem to be reiterations of missions 2 to 8 - which will almost surely make these missions unplayable.

Please post a full file listing of installed files in your Worms Armageddon folder. To do this, click Start, Run, and enter:
cmd /C dir /S "C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon" > C:\filelist.txt
If you installed the game in another folder, please specify the path to that folder instead of "C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon". Enclose it in double quotes (") if it contains spaces.

Some more information you could provide us to help resolve the problem:

1) what is the contents of the file G:\Data\Resource\version.txt (from the game CD) ?
2) is there a publisher (company) name on the CD or box (other than Team17)?
3) does the box look like a legit (not pirated) copy? (you mentioned some stickers)

1. http://rapidshare.com/files/43796571/filelist.txt.html
2. I see: Team17, Micro Prose.
3. Well it does look like it. But how can i be sure if its real legit?

CyberShadow
19 Jul 2007, 13:24
Thanks. I'm not sure of a fail-proof way to check if it's legit or not - although MicroProse is an authorized W:A publisher. It's possible that this is a hastly-made localised version.
Also, what about G:\Data\Resource\version.txt ?

I cant open it. i cant copy it.

i cant do anything with that version file :S when i open it, its empty.

i also get an error: Cant open the file. please check if its inside the station. (i litteraly translated it from dutch to english)

Try restarting your computer and open the file before starting any other programs.

Also, maybe your CD is scratched. Try cleaning it.

inekler
21 Jul 2007, 13:22
Nope didnt work.

Its also not scratched.

CyberShadow
23 Jul 2007, 08:57
Then you either have a malware on your computer that prevents you to open random files or your CD drive is damaged.

franpa
23 Jul 2007, 09:02
or the cd is a illegal copy :)

or the cd is a illegal copy :)
Illegality doesn't necessarily break things. ;)

CyberShadow
23 Jul 2007, 21:02
Yes, but pirated CDs are almost always of a lower quality than retail ones (I don't mean identical copies of genuine CDs, but CDs assembled by pirates). That would definitely explain the mess-up with the mission files.

Don't feed the Franpa Fire, CyberShadow! He may be right this time, but if you agree with him it'll only make him think he's right the next time, when he's telling people you can install WA on a hairdryer using a Linux Distro, a rubber dingy and a small aubergine!
