I'll admit, I'm lost on this one. I've tried for quite a while, but can't figure out how to go upside down with the rope. I've seen it in online games, but haven't been able to get my own ropes to go vertical.

What am I missing?

aim down with a aiming weapon (bazooka) and jump, now while in the air, choose the rope and press shoot before you land.

That won't work on Worms XBLA and since there's no quick key to select rope, you wouldn't be able to switch to rope fast enough to try it.

If you want to get over a cliff on say the left side, without swinging and can't attach to anything above it then look for a small bump/hill to the right, attach the rope to that and push yourself backwards up the cliff.

I'm also interested in this. Everybody can go vertically with the rope, I neither can go from one side to another :(
