View Full Version : Grenades bouncing off the worm throwing them

This seems like an obvious bug but I can't see anything on the search that would suggest it's been mentioned... Just posting in case it's really just me.

I assume that when you throw a grenade / cluster bomb ( / bazooka ) from the rope with TestStuff on it shouldn't bounce off the worm and go in the opposite direction? It's very reproducible, obviously related to the removal of speed limits I guess.

Plenty of examples in http://www.zogger.co.uk/grenadebouncing.WAgame

Undoubtedly I will post this thread to see 100 mentions elsewhere as soon as I go back to the forum index.

This is very well known. The reason test versions are called test versions and aren't officially-available versions is because of their (potential) bugginess.

Doesn't look like a bug to me, just worm's phisics in action.

I watched right through that replay, mostly at 2X speed. A couple of things i noticed.

The only weapon that seems to bounce of the worm when its on the rope is the grenade. Although Zogger was using a scheme that only gave grenades and bazookas in crates, so I think I'll test that theory.

This self-bouncing seems to happen every time the grenade is dropped from the rope.

On a completely unrelated note, at least three of the crates dropped in the replay contained select worm. Is that going to be fixed, in addition to controlling the crate probability of superweapons, in any future updates? Its irritating when it happens.

Any grenade-like weapon (clusters, HHG) does the same.
The way I understand it is that, the projectile is thrown (dropped) from the middle of the worm and follows the worm trayectory, and since the worm is going in circles it quickly gets headbutted backwards.
