With this new patch and everything I thought I'd pop my head up once more to share with the lot of you an idea of mine which is now finally possible. I've named it battyrope race. (brr) the idea is you've got an extremely high map in which you race from bottom to top using the rope. The map only has vertical beams and all players have infinit eartquake so the only way to keep at your peak is by hanging on the rope in-between turns.

This is really just a race game like rr, accept it's a race to the top. I've included a replay of myself kicking my behind in an example match. Njoy.

Nice. In my opinion, it's the first scheme where batty ropes makes sense. It doesn't for ropers, shoppers etc.

four approval posts, now you HAVE to make more maps :)

Thanks for the support guys. The maps are pretty easy to make yourselfs, just start with a small file, like 80x160, draw the thing in pixels. Then blow it up a whole lot (1500% x 5000%), add some colour and style and yer done.

@Hurrell, be my guest, i guess i should have added my name to that but nvm, it's out now so 4get about it.

Seeing all these replies I think I might just sign this one up as a wormolympics game. I'll see about making some more maps, shouldn't be too hard considering I made this one in under 10 minutes.

Map has been added, with your name added to it.

I had a go at this myself in an offline practise... I suck :p But the concept is great.

A friend suggested an alternative version. Haven't worked it out yet but the idea is to use the new 48-worms feature.

Every team starts with 8 worms. Turns last 15 seconds and after like uhh, 5 minutes the water starts to rize, fast. Winner is the player who can get the most worms to the top.

Sounds like a "last worm roping" type of thing. I like it.

Very nice idea! :P
I had a similar idea when I heard about big maps.. Tower RRs rock.

When I had the old batty ropes (and still do), I used to make "Stairway" maps...like upside down stairs, going upwards. It got harder as you went along, as the stairs got steeper (the worm is underneath the stairway) and sometimes you could find little marbles or things that could get lost under a staircase.

Like this:

But of course, longer and wider.

That's a very good idea. This would make the game more exciting.

@ robowurmz: Your idea is nice, too.

I played BattyRope Race for the first time online today. First: The scheme is a lot of fun! There is only a need for more and higher maps.

If you want to realize the other idea with rising water you should really make a seperate scheme because BattyRope Race is very nice how it is at the moment.

I'd only suggest two improvements to the scheme:
1. Disable Sudden Death (set it to some ridicilously long time). Otherwise one can't select worms in Sudden Death anymore and I don't think that makes sense.
2. Remove the health points of the worms. Having health points but not getting any damage is confusing.

And you should think of a different name for the game. BattyRope Race sounds like it would be a normal RR with the batty rope option enabled. In fact it doesn't have anything to do with RR.

thanks for the feedback. Yeah I've aleady come up with a name for the other game, which in fact can be played on the same maps: Global Warming Survivor

I've been trying to finetune the scheme but it's a bit harder then I expected. Right now, half the worms die before leaving the ground (flood), another 40% dies because it's just pretty damn hard, and I end up with only 1 or 2 worms per team which are pretty easy to get to the top without the water rising problem.

I'll attach a game i set up. I also wanted to include an element of battle trickery without it being too powerful, but i haven't figured that one out yet, because it takes next to nothing to take down a worm hanging by a rope. Any ideas on that?

Final thoughts before I go to bed were that I should add chute to make mistakes less deadly. Also a wider map would probably be a good idea for this so worms get less in eachother's way.

Any thoughts from you guys?

No need to make the name too long! Just call it Global Warming.

I got a new map sitting at home, I think it's ready but I gotta have a test run first. It'll probably be up tonight. Possibly along with the first version of the Global Worming scheme (I'm going for that name, is pretty good).

I've had a few tries and it's pretty hard I can tell ya, have settled for 18 worms max, and with 3 teams I haven't been able to get more then 3 (out of 6 @ the start) to the finish yet. I think it'll be better with the new map, which has 3 start positions to prevent all 18 worms from getting in the way.

Righty, done, have a look @ http://www.wmdb.org/5128

As for the scheme, I'm hoping to get that ready this weekend. There are also 4 other maps under construction.

### Global Worming scheme ready ###

At least, I like it this way.

Alright here's how it works:

You can play with as many people as you like, just make sure the amount of worms @ the start is around 18. That's about the amount that could possibly be taken off the floor level before SD kicks in.

The goal is simple, get as many worms from start to finish.

Turns are 15 seconds and you won't want to waste any of them, especially at the start because you need to move at least 2 worms to survive SD. After that it's just a matter of keeping your head above the water, which is a lot trickier then it sounds.

This game is not just a race, it's a battle for survival, and for that purpose you have been equiped. Use girders to aid your self across long distances, or better yet, to force the enemy into a detoure. You are also given delayed nukes to wipe out any slow-movers, and earthquakes to drop all those that are not hanging by there batties.

The player with the most worms at the finish wins. This ofcourse comes into effect when all worms have either died or reached finish. If equal (which is likely to happen) the player who his all his survivors reach the finish first wins.

Worms can leave the finish once reached, to go set girders, this counts as a finish.

There is just 1 rule; No 4-way blocks. E.g. you can block a pipe at the top forcing the worm to go back down, but you can't also block the bottom. If the bottom is under water that means tough luck for the worm. But hey, that's survival, It'll teach 'm not to get into pipes. Oh, and obviously no blocking off the finish, but i'm hoping that's common sence.

I've got a replay as well but it's too big so, sorry.
