I successfully reformated to make worms faster (cause i encountered problems last days :confused:) and now it's worse. I installed the 3.6.26.5 update but now there are 2 bugs (and probably more!) THE ONLY THING I CHANGED TO MY PC AFTER REFORMAT IS THE GRAPHICS CARD AND THE HARD DISC DRIVE.
graphics card = geforce 7600GS (my old was 5300 pcx)
HDD = 500GB (my old was 120 GB)

I can play offline with no problems but :
1. When i go to weapons options , i can't see all weapons and the images are broken and strange.
2. When i connect to wormnet, go in #AG then join OR host a game, it crashes, and tells me FATAL ERROR. Image included.

I added the ERRORLOG.txt too. It may include greek language inside because i use greek Operating System :D

try in the tweaks folder the frontend work arounds.

Right, did you set any special options in Windows Vista when you had your old hd? It would have reset those, like running it in a certain permissions thing.

I tried all regs, nothing seems to change the crash when i join a multiplayer game. Notice that it happens when i join or host a game.

The weapon options bug is not fixed either.

Could you post a screenshot of the weapon options?
With the latest Beta, you can make screenshots by pressing the Pause/Break key. They will be saved to your User\Capture folder.

It looks like not full or edited but that is exactly what appearing in game.

Please go to Control Panel, Display options, Settings, click Advanced and check the "DPI" setting (screenshot (http://thecybershadow.net/dump/54c850b470ba4f017ec1cd49e57e80ba/00000473.png)). Check that it's set to 96 DPI (Normal size).

Also, do any other screens / menus look like they don't fit on the screen or are proportionally distorted?

Sadly, the DPI is already 96.
And no, the only menu which is distorted is the weapons menu. i tried everything else. and of course, when i click on weapon options menu, i cant exit. only with minimize --> close application.

Don't forget the another problem when i join/host. why it crashes ? my firewall is disabled :mad:

What about the font sizes? Did you set a larger UI font using Control Panel -> Display -> Appearance? (this includes fine-tuning the scheme using the Advanced button)

Yes, i do use a different theme in winXP, and to do that i ''patched'' uixtheme.dll in windows directory. But i tried rolling back to the normal theme (without reboot) but not change. The weapons options are still bugged and i have to close the program to exit, and it still crashes when i join an online game, or host a game online.

Im starting to believe that the problem is caused by the graphics card (http://www.gainward.com/en/product/product_detail_v8040.html) or the nvidia drivers 94.24 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24.html).

If the problem is caused by graphics drivers, then i 'il wait for the next release :).

I don't think that this is related to the display drivers, as those wouldn't really dictate the placement of controls on the weapons panel (if this were a video glitch, they would only "appear" displaced but would still be in the right positions when you tried to click them etc). It might be related to the patched uxtheme.dll, however.

mmm i had that patched dll and i think i still do i dont have a problem with the weapons panel... and yes the 93.71, 94.24, 162.15 drivers work fine with my geforce 6600gt pcie.

I might be able to fix the crash, but that still won't solve the problem with UI elements being out of their position - some things could become unusable (for example, the "Start game" button could be placed outside the screen and become inaccessible).

I also have a patched uxtheme, with the Vista Transformation Pack, and WA works fine for me.

might design it so that dstuff CAN be placed off screen thus fixing your crash, however stuff will still be off screen and stuff thus you still most likely wont be able to play.

The screens you're having trouble with, the weapon options editor and host/join screen, both have something in common - they've been redesigned, and the layout depends on a certain font that should be installed on all systems.

The font is called "Small fonts". It won't show up in your Fonts folder, however you can still use it in font selection dialogs.

Please check that the font is installed on your system, and that it works. You can do that by opening Notepad and setting Notepad's font to "Small fonts". Here's a reference screenshot of what it should look like when it's set to "Small fonts", "Regular", size 5:

The font in your screenshot seems different than the one in mine. Notice the shape of the e letters.
Compare with the same text at Small fonts size 5 for me:

It's odd that the fonts are present in your Fonts folder. Maybe somehow a different font was installed with the same name?
You could try deleting those fonts and seeing if the system will revert to using the standard version. (Wouldn't hurt to back them up though, just in case)

I deleted them. I copied them first, of course. I tried W:A again and it crashes in joining/host, and the weapon options are still bugged.

i think you can see your hidden fonts using that options:

1. Open My Computer
2. Go to ''Tools Menu'' --> ''Folder Options''
3. Go to ''View'' Tab
4. In ''Advanced Settings'' , ''Hidden Files and Folders'' check the option ''Show hidden files and folders''
5. In ''Advanced Settings'' , ''Hidden Files and Folders'' uncheck the option ''Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
6. Now Go to your %SystemRoot%\Fonts\
(or /Windows/Fonts) and the small fonts will be there.

Right Click --> Copy doesn't work for me so i use CTRL + C to copy and CTRL + V to paste. Zipping these files will be nice too. :)

Ah, I didn't realise some fonts were hidden.

The only font I have related to Small Fonts is "Small Fonts (VGA res)". Maybe you could try deleting all but that one?
Also, check if the font will look like mine in Notepad.

i left only small fonts (VGA Res) , and trying deleting all of them too (with backup) and still don't works when joining/hosting. Weapons options bug of course

We've reproduced the issue and implemented a workaround. The problem can in fact happen on all greek Windows versions.

We'll have to see if it works when the next beta will be out (which should be much sooner as it will be a bugfix release) :)

Btw i reinstalled the game and i ran the patch completaly unpatched then i downloaded some updates wapatch.exe and gfxfix.exe oO .
I haven't did that before. I didn't copied even the old user folder.
I went to weapons options again but the problem still.
I went to WN and when i try to join or host a game but it is still crashing.
Maybe editing some .LYT file in DXLayouts folder will help ?
Paint isn't opening these files :(.
Is there a way to recreate the layouts or something ? There might be a way...

Ag3ntSmith, there is no need to worry. I reproduced your problem on my computer by replacing the English version of "Small Fonts" with the Greek one, and this caused exactly the same graphical glitch in the Weapon Options screen and the same crash in the Host/Join screen.

I then made a modification in W:A to completely bypass the dependence on "Small Fonts" (so it can be nonstandard or even not present) and hard-coded the needed size; and with this workaround, the Weapon Options and Host/Join screens worked perfectly.

Rest assured that your problem will be fixed with the next beta update.

(BTW, fiddling around with DXLayouts .LYT files will have absolutely no effect on W:A v3.5 Beta 1 and later, because I removed all use of those files. Since then, the front end layouts have depended directly on WA.EXE's dialog resources.)

Anyways i got it work. I copied small fonts from an other computer and now it works. I tried that after seeing that some installers were distorted too and the buttons were unpressable.
Now worms work properly now , so don't bother with my problem anymore.
