sounds like you have a problem with a space bar you can download a key remapper and set one of your f keys to the space bar. Go to http://www.blamethepixel.com/files.php?type[]=11&PHPSESSID=bb8b9770e3361c07aee8ce68a5bb9d4a
or if that does not work for you go to blamethepixel.com and click on programs.

then that F key wont work -.-

if you have a wireless keyboard then thats why it went back to the store within the first 2 weeks of searching for a way around it, it appeared to me to be a battery saving thingie.

That indeed seems like a mechanical problem of your keyboard. Buy a new one.

If you have lots of money get the Logitech G15 (http://www.caseking.de/shop/catalog/images/GATA_067_1g.jpg).
If you don't know what to do with your millions of money, get the Optimus Maximus Keyboard (http://img.artlebedev.ru/everything/optimus/optimax.jpg).

He should probably check that it's a global problem, first. Should be easy enough to test with an open text field

Blitza, you do realise that the Optimus Maximus has an OLED color display on every button?

Hm, does this mean you could print a bazooka symbol on F1, a grenade symbol on F2 and so on? Or could you only use standard fonts?

Ah, I found the answer by myself:
"Optimus is equally good for any keyboard layouts—Cyrillic, Ancient Greek, Georgian, Arabic—and so on to infinity: notes, numerals, special symbols, HTML codes, math functions, images etc."

If I was rich ...

That Optimus keyboard looks ****e to be honest. The keys look so pathetic.

Although, in fairness... my keyboard is about as old as me.

So you can make the keys be what ever you want them to be? And show whatever symbol you want them to show?

CyberShadow

Pretty much so :)

Indeed.
IIRC, the software is quite flexible and users can edit a lot themselves.

What I'm wondering is, if you could connect all the buttons' displays to one huge display. :D
You could then use it as a second monitor and display fun things there.
I'm thinking in the direction of the Nintendo DS' 2 displays.

From the FAQ (http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/faq/)

How frequently do the frames change?
It depends on the number of displays in use. If you want the images on all 113 buttons to change simultaneously with the information provided directly from a PC, then the frame rate will be around 10 frames per second. If animated images are displayed on 5 buttons, and the information is uploaded from the SD card, then it will be faster.

So I guess this would be possible, but you won't be able to watch a movie ;)

Wait!..So your saying, you can change the symbols on the keys to whatever symbol you want??
Therefore the letters on the keys aren't painted on?

each key is a mini LED.

Blitza`
7 Jul 2007, 11:31
So each key has a mini projector, which can change shape?

You don't know what an LCD is?

It's the technology that most modern computer screens use. And if you didn't know that then look it up on Google or Wikipedia. USE the internet that you have at your fingertips.

dude, im not retarded, i know what it means. But if u read my question, you would see it wasnt asking what an LCD was -.-!!

franpa

each key is a mini LED, a small screen, a thing charged with electricity.

If you say that you are able to make use of information available one click away, you would have just went to the keyboard's web site and read all about it. We're not saying anything new here, except perhaps explaining what an OLED (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED) is (because for some reason Googling it is not acceptable for you).
