The Worms Knowledge Base, our wiki-based annelid information repository, is finally officially open!

Thanks to the efforts of many fellow wormers, the WKB has a new URL, a new skin, a software upgrade and a new goal!

The new URL is: http://worms2d.info/ (domain name donated by Koen)

The new default skin is my branch from Glide's wormy skin. You can switch to Glide's version by selecting the "WormsAlt" skin in your preferences, or you can switch to the classic skin by selecting MonoBook. The new awe-inducing WKB logo is the creation of Squirminator2K. The new skins require JavaScript for full functionality and are designed to be viewed at a resolution of at least 1024x768.

The MediaWiki software is now of the latest version, so you should enjoy a smoother experience overall :)
All database contents, including user accounts, have been moved to the new wiki - so your old login will work.

And finally, the WKB no longer restricts itself to technical information about the 2nd-generation of Worms games - it is now a project that tries to gather and organise any informaton (that can be represented with Wiki markup) about the Worms series - specifically, the 2D games up to the second generation (Worms to Worms World Party). Information is now more structured and easier to find, and there's a new FAQ/Troubleshooting section, which hopes to organise and put together the various FAQs and guides floating around :)

Note: There are several known compatibility issues with the new skins and some browsers:

Pages with info-boxes (tables that float on the right) will cause pages to render incorrectly in IE6.
PNG images with an alpha transparency channel will not display properly in IE6.
There is a Firefox glitch (http://thecybershadow.net/dump/2f97d74b0283213d8d62cf5654775451/test.html) that prevents the cursor from being displayed when it's near the top of the page. This issue has been fixed in Firefox 3 alphas, but will most likely not be included in 2.x updates.
Some text may overlap on the game pages in FireFox with a smaller viewport width; the status of this glitch is unconfirmed.

You can work around these issues by:

Using another skin, e.g. Monobook
Using a newer version of your browser
Using a different browser (there are no known issues with Opera (http://www.opera.com/) 9.21, for example)

See you there - and have fun editing!

The glitch is still present in 2.0.0.12.

The Worms Knowledge Base has been moved to a new, faster server. It may take some time for the DNS changes to propagate.

If you notice anything odd, post here.

The server is in France.

Yes, it is. It's a dedicated server hosted by OVH (http://www.ovh.co.uk/). But considering that most W:A players are from Europe, that's a good thing :)

No oddities here, except that it's blazing fast! Good job, CyberShadow.

Bug found!

http://worms2d.info/Buttfats_%26_Parsnips

This URL always redirects to the article named Buttfats (http://worms2d.info/?title=Buttfats&redirect=no) (which is a redirect page to TeamED)

To access to the article I have to use this link to stop the redirect:
http://worms2d.info/?title=Buttfats_%26_Parsnips&redirect=no
(click here for permanent link (http://worms2d.info/?title=Buttfats_%26_Parsnips&oldid=10717))

EDIT: This may be useful:

Will you add worms reloaded since it's a 2D game?

I'm agree, WKB is a great idea. I loved it the first day I knew it. Good designed site, simple but with quick access to the information, many images for a better understanding, examples, etc.

The main page (http://worms2d.info/Main_Page) explains this.

The main page (http://worms2d.info/Main_Page) explains this.

There is a page for a hypothetical next-gen 2D game. Maybe that could be brought up to date?

It's a wikipedia. Knock yourself out!

Just a "wiki", actually. (Wikipedia is its own site.)

And I'm too lazy to edit it... ;-P
